Is it possible to hook up outside speakers using the Multi-Zone feature in the Denon 3805? I would like to be able to listen to a CD outside while my kids are inside watching TV. Can this be done? The 3805 manual may as well be written in a foreign language.

Thanks for any assistance or tips you may have in doing this.

The Denon manual is difficult to decipher when concerning multi zone, to play a different source in a different room, I believe you would need a Premain amplifier installed in the other room to switch sources.

Wass-up Wass! (sorry, had to do it!) hmmm...good question. One that I was asking myself just a couple of days ago as a matter of fact. As of right now I my Rocket OD100s plugged into the "B" surround outputs and change the speaker setup so the "B" speakers play in the "5/7 channel stereo" vice the "A" speakers (the qs-8s on the wall.) I have tomorrow off, I'll look into it.

W, welcome. There're two different ways to set up multi-zone with the 3805. One involves driving a separate amplifier in the second zone with pre-outs from the 3805. The other way, which I suspect is more likely what you have in mind, is to assign the amp channels for the back surrounds(assuming that you're not already using them for back surround speakers in a 7.1 setup)to instead power the speakers in the second zone. If there's some particular part of the manual that's unclear on the point(they try to make the entire manual confusing, but sometimes they slip up)maybe we could take a look.

Thanks for the replies. To clarify I do not have a seperate amplifier to run these two speakers and I hope I dont have to buy one to get these two speakers working. The speakers are on an outside patio and I would like to be able to listen to them at the same time someone is using the Denon to listen to something else. I have the system set up as 5.1 and I have no intention of using the 7.1 feature. I was told that I could assign the back surrounds to a second zone but I am only on my third lesson of latin and they say I need at least 427 more lessons to understand the manual.
