Randy,
I just got some matte white screen fabric from Dazian for my DIY screen. There is a shiny side and a side that is matte. I thought the shiny side was the one to project on but when I tried it had a huge hot spot in the middle. On which side are you projecting?

Yes your correct, if I recall one side is a bright white, and if you look close, has a very small texture. The opposite side is smooth, but has a glossy appearance. You do want to use the White side which is matt or some refer as flat(no sheen).
