So I went to Vegas last week for a work event, I'm 31 and it was my first time! I had a blast and we stayed at the Venetian. I'm eager to go back with the fiance and I'm looking for advice on where to stay.

Any Vegas veterans that can recommend a place that won't break the bank, I really don't want to spend the $400/night the Venetian costs.

New York, New York has a great special the week after labor day so that's the front runner right now.

One time out we stayed at Ballys and loved it. Free room upgrade for some reason. Slept there. Played everywhere else.

Use hotels.com or a similar service. Also, travel packages (airfare + hotel) can really save you some dough.

My favorite is the Rio, all suites, and wont break the bank. I've stayed at NY NY and was not impressed, although the Casino is nice its a nighmare trying to find your room in their maze of towers. The Paris Hotel is very nice, but not cheap. Also the Rio has one of the best buffets in Vegas, as well as a great nightclub.

Fair warning - you are already spoiled!! I've stayed a few places - I thought the Mirage had the best service I've ever seen in a hotel (this is a high complement coming from me). The rooms are a *little* old but I wasn't thinking about it all the time. Mandalay Bay's rooms make you think about how old they are all the time. Ditto Flamingo, that famous Canadian CES hangout! Caesars offers incredibly easy access to excellent shopping - thought I'd better tell you that and not your fiance!

The Luxor isn't really worth it. Decent rooms, but not all that much better than a Holiday Inn Express. At least in the pyramid itself.

I've heard this before, my room was amazing and I think it was only a step above standard. It was huge, 2 TVs, a sunken living room, and the bathroom was bigger then most hotel rooms I've stayed in.

I really don't plan on spending much time in the room, but I don't want a huge drop off either.

Tom, I was in Vegas for the first time back in January for Carrier's national dealer meeting. Had a blast - not enough free time though. They had us at the MGM Grand. Nice casino, great food, standard room. No idea of the cost, but the room was no different than what you would see at any Best Western or Holiday Inn.

Ditto the Rio.

It all depends on what do you want to do. The NY,NY is a great location you can walk to other casinos near or far by. Shopping with the fiancee Ceasars Palace is a good location. I have been going there for years now mainly to gamble and I prefer old downtown and most of the station casions. You will find most of the locals playing at the station casinos.
Where ever you stay use your club card when you play to earn your comps and in no time you will be getting room for free. Charge all your meals to your room and when you check out check with the pitboss to see if you played enough to get those meals comped.
Have fun and good luck.
