I am currently pricing out my new home to build and it will include a dedicated home theatre. The room is 26' long x 22' wide. My listening area will be about 10 to 11 feet from the TV. The back part of the room will be a bar area.

I currently have the Bose Acoustimass 5.1 duel cube system in my living room. Been very pleased with this system but have never listened to anything else with the exception of low end in the box surround systems.

I have several questions. How does the Epic Midi systems compare with what I have? Can the speaker brackets from Axiom be mounted on the ceiling (going from 5.1 to 6.1)? I will be looking for a new reciever. Can spend about $600 - $700, I want THX certification and DTS 6.1 capability. Any suggestions?

For 599.00 this may be a good choice. Link

Welcome ndtiger,

I think you will find every speaker in the Axiom lineup will outperform your BOSE cubes by a long ways. The BOSE cubes just can't give you the same soundstage as a true audiophile speaker, not matter what the brand.

THX really is just a badge, but if you want it go ahead. Any decent brand receiver from a reputible name like Yammy, Denon, HK, Onkyo, etc. will do just fine with most of the Axiom speakers.

good luck.

Wow, that's a good deal. You know how to find them!

Is this a reputable site?

I had a Bose Acoustimass-7 before Axioms. There is no comparison between Bose and "real" speakers, IMHO. Your going to hear highs and lows you haven't heard before.

You can order in for the thirty day trial and use both to hear the difference, then ebay the Bose.

Thanks. I was looking at some higher end Axiom systems but it is looking like the money is going to be tight. Still may go that route when I get to that stage. But just in case, I wanted opinions on the Epic Midi systems from Axiom in comparisons with the Bose. Hopefully when I get to purchase time, I can squeeze an extra thousand or two and get what I really want:

2 -M50's
3 - QS-8's
1 - VP-150
1 - EP-350

Any other advice is greatley appreciated.

Just remember that you save 5% on ordering any 5 products, and 10% more if factory ordered.

Axiom does offer another option for saving up for a more expensive system.

Lay Away Plans are perfect for those that want to spread their payments out over a 2-12 month period. Lay Away is an advantage if you like to plan ahead and then budget your payments without the interest charges of credit cards. To use the Lay Away Plan, your Order must total $300.00 or more.

Yep as Bugbitten mentioned, the Factory Outlet will save you 10% if you are willing to wait a short time, and if you buy 5 or more items, you get another 5%. This may help you decide what you can afford...
