Hi guys! I know a lot of you frequently travel by plane and I've only flown overseas (basically having no choice) all before 9/11. Well, in a couple of weeks, I'll be flying to Florida compliments of Victoria Insurance Company in Cleveland, OH (wondering if Jack knows where it is!). So what's the deal with tweezers and razors? I understand that these items may not be allowed in the carry-on bag, but what about packed in a suitcase? I know I could call the airport and find out, but I thought I could get a quicker answer from the vast amount of knowledgeable people here!

Thanks!
Mary

Suitcase is just fine--as long as you check it. And I'm pretty sure razors are fine in carry on; otherwise I've been getting through security with contraband an awful lot.

The entire family flew to Florida out of Buffalo last month. My wife had both items you mentioned in her suitcase. No issues at all.

Butane lighters are a no-no. If you smoke, ditch it in the trash before you enter security. None of us do, so it was no biggie.

Wow! Thanks for the quick responses, guys! I feel more at ease now. Those two items are a "must" for us women!

One last thing, if you travel with anything chargeable in your bag that could turn on (razor, toothbrush) make sure it is secured. I had my razor apparently get jostled and it turned on somewhere after I checked my bags, at our destination my family got their bags, two days later I got my obviously gone through luggage with my dead electric razor.

Haven't the foggiest, Mary. Phone book shows a Victoria Fire & Casualty on Landerbrook Dr. (East side of town. I'm on the West side), but I've still never heard of them.

I'm sorry you're not flying to Cleveland compliments of Victoria Insurance company in Florida.

The rule of thumb is to put all your electronics in carry-on and put all your "sharps" in checked baggage. I just flew to Seattle with a nice sharp folding knife in checked baggage, highly visible on x-rays. I did not expect nor experience any problems.

You'd be most welcome.
