Stop laughing....I know that painting $2K speakers sounds crazy...but the finish that I want is not offered. I want black, shiny, but with no wood grain showing. Could it hurt the speakers if I painted them black and then covered the paint with a layer of poly urethane? Would it affect the sound?

I assume you are asking about the Axiom vinyl speakers ? The Axiom Custom Wood Studio offers black high gloss piano finish on all speakers. More costly than the vinyls, but tyring to put a high gloss paint finish over vinyl is something I would not attempt doing on a $2k set of speakers.

Have you looked at the custom finish or custom wood finish options on the product page?

I looked at the custom finishes and the custom wood in piano black. But when I look at the pics, I can still see the wood grain. I would not consider trying to paint vinyl but I was asking if it would ok to paint over the standard black oak.

Is the pic of the high gloss that you viewed, I suggest contacting Amie about a sample of thier latest HG piano black. I will be at Axiom next week and will see about getting some pics for you.

That is EXACTLY what I want. However, when I look at the custom finishes or custom wood area, I do not see the gallery that you provided the link for....

Once on the Custom Wood page, upper right corner in the blue border click on the text "View Custom Studio Gallery"

I don't know how he found that either. EDIT: It's in the upper corner of the link Dennis provided...

The piano black looks sharp. I have dipole surrounds in piano gloss black from a different company and they are quite stunning in appearance.

What axiom speakers are you considering?

Yeah, it is hard to find...it depends on which page you use to access the custom finish/wood area...I am considering:
pair of QS8s
pair of M60s
VP100 Center
EP350 Sub..

but the high gloss adds almost 50% to the price...but then they would look AND sound stunning....gotta sleep on it.

I didn't say it would be inexpensive , but if you want a first class look the HG piano black will do it for sure, good luck on decision making.
