The zoom on the JR site does not appear to be working, can anyone answer me as to whether the 1016 has a phono input? It doesn't look like it nor do i see it mentioned in the specs.

OneVolFan, you also may wish to look at the Yamaha line of receivers, the new HTR line has been released, the new HTR-5960 has a pretty impressive option set considering the cost. Also lots of older models, including the RX-V1500 that are on their way out so could probably be had cheap.

You are better off using a separate phono preamp. You'll have more options than you will using just the receivers phono out. I'm not sure, but you probably can't use it with a MC cart.

Thomas, I had thought about that, but for me it's more of a convenience thing - less cables in what's already a rat's nest....plus, since I only own a few records - mostly Pearl Jam xmas singles, I rarely use it and I'm not overly concerned about having extra options. I just want something that I can plug in to once every blue moon.

Since I have the 1015 and it has no phono input I can only assume that the 1016 also has no phono input.

Lorenzo, I can only assume the same thing. It's quite unfortunate because the 1015 is a great little, feature-rich receiver. Dirt cheap too. Can be had at $500 Cdn without too much effort.

OneVolFan, apologies for the hijack...let us know what you decided, IMO you can't go wrong with either of these receivers, especially considering how cheap the 2805s have become.
