I finally got some time to unpack my EP600 and plug it all in. However...something is wrong. I dont hear all of the bass that everyone is speaking of. Here are my settings.

I use Global X-Over Mode.
My M80's are set at 60
My VP150 set at 80
and My QS8's are at 60.
Sub Level is -10db

This worked great on my 500 but the 600 is not reproducing.
The 600 settings are the same as my 500.
Trim is Flat
Crossover is set at Bypass.
Level is at 11-12 o'clock.

Any advice?

If your sub level is -10, you might not be getting enough signal to the sub to wake it up. I'd look at that parameter first.

Are you saying there is less bass with the 600 than there was with the 5? Do you have it in the same location that the 500 was in?

Also if I'm not mistaken, there isn't a "Blow me away" difference between the two. Yes the 600 plays deeper/stronger, but it's not "OMG" better.

11-12 o'clock? The pamphlet recommends placing the gain/volume knob at half way between 4 and 9 on the sub, which would be around 7 on the knob. Now the EP350 knob has a different orientation, where 12 o'clock would be half way, the 500/600 are different. If you have the knob at 11 o'clock it should be blowing you away.

I think my AVR's dB setting is -2dB's on the 500 when I have the gain at location 7 on the sub.

I would turn down the gain on the sub, which in turn would allow you to increase the dB on the receiver to get your SPL you want.

Not sure what else to say.

You’ve done something with the HK’s surround settings. You shouldn’t be able to set the sub output to anything. Well either that or I have something set wrong on my 7300 because I can’t set the sub level on the HK.

Are you sure that the audio settings are set to “X-over” with speakers set to “Small”???

I noticed a significant difference when I went from the 500 to the 600.

Tarun although I utilize an H/K 635 as a processor I run the same settings as you except I have my sub level on the H/K set at -8 and my fronts/surrounds crossover setting are just a bit different (80 on the 80s) but I don't believe I've never had my output level on our 600 past the 9 o'clock position and most often its set around 7-7:30. Anything past the 10 o'clock position I do believe my particular room would come crashing down.

I would think the 7300 and the 635 should be close enough that the settings should equate to darn near the same results, with speaker placement, room size and acoustics all coming into to play of course. I've never had the opportunity to listen to a 500 so I don't know how much of a difference there would be but just by your sub output setting I'd think there is certainly something amiss.

At this point I am thinking my time telling skills in regard to volume controls is a bit off.

I will have to revisit that situation.

As for placement, yes it is in the same spot as the 500.

The 7300 does allow you to adjust the level to the SUB...and with the 500 it was at -10.

I will have to mess with the cross overs at this point. I am thinking of trying -80 all the way on M80's Vp150 and QS8's.

More tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice up till now.

Well I figured it out.
Yes it was at 7-7:30.
Worked for 10 minutes last night and died on me.
I called Brent @ Axiom and arranged for an RMA.

I always wondered why my 600 wasnt shaking anything...and now we know why. One bad pea in the pod. But AXIOM as usual is on top of it and arranging a replacement immediately.

I did some menu surfing and did in fact find that I can change the sub DB on the 7300. Mine was set to zero. Sorry about that inaccurate assessment.

I’m wondering though, what advantage is it to adjust the sub’s level with the AVR when you have to calibrate it with the sub’s volume control anyway?? I’d rather just twist the knob then pop through a bunch of menus to bump the sub’s output. Am I missing something???

Too bad about your 600 Tarun. But as you mention, Axiom is very quick to remedy problems. If you liked your 500, you’ll LOVE the 600. Especially with music.

I had actually read it somewhere....changing the level down a tad via the AVR had positive impact on my 500. The bass was cleaner and loud enough for my room size. Most have always recommended turning the sub down via the AVR so as to achieve cleaner/tighter bass.
