I'll never forget my first launch-witnessing - there's nothing like it. My aunt is a snowbird and spends her winters in Cape Canaveral, and I happened to be down one spring break when there was a launch. Friends of hers took us to the Navy limits in a boat and the experience was beyond words. Some people laughed, some people sobbed, some people applauded - all of us were just awed in the truest sense of the word. I would just love to be in the on-site stands for a launch one day - that must put an even finer edge on the experience. Ian's with BrenR - he'd love to go up.

Amie it's also neat to be in Port Canaveral whenever the ships tow in the solid rocket boosters, I've spent many days and nights fishing those docks inside the port.

Count me in on a shuttle ride as well, I couldn't imagine the feel of all of that power. Must be absolutely tremendous.

Well, he can fly... I'll sit in the passenger seat and adjust the mirrors and reach behind me and swat BrotherBob and threaten that if he doesn't stop goofing around, we're turning this shuttle around and going back to Earth.

I had an interesting 4th. After the normal hometown parade thing, we headed off to Living History Farms. For those that live in the midwest, LHF's is a large area of land that a rich farm family from the 1800's donated for historical purposes. They actually have an old town just like the movies with bank, newspaper, church, drug store, etc... Sometimes I think I'm in an old Clint Eastwood movie.

Anyway, LHF has a traveling baseball team that is based on baseball of the late 1800's. Our church played them in one of their friendly practices. We had to wear the old wool/cotton uniforms, could not wear gloves, and had to wear these shoes with no tread on the bottom. In addition, we had to follow 1800's rules. For ex., if you caught the ball after one bounce, the person is out. It was very interesting, and I discovered how out of shape I was.

Yeah, or nearly so: 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005. Now we have a 10 month old, so it may be a little while before we get back. Emphasis on little, as I'm hoping Nolan will be able to appreciate it at an early age. Like next week? LOL ...

Yeah the sooner the better:). I went 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 will be twice. lol

The family and I took a short (2.5 hr) road trip to Delaware to visit my wife's relatives. She has an uncle in Middletown with kids about the same age as ours. He took us out on the Chesapeake in his boat, with our kayak in tow. We swam and paddled a bit and then headed back to the house in time for their annual block party.

I joined in the volleyball tournament just as some thunder storms were making their way through. We kept playing through the downpour and the muddy, slippery grass certainly added another element to the game. It's going to be a year at least until the grass grows back on that area.

Just returned from vacation last night, my sister called and told us to look up in the Southwest sky at 9:16 P.M., we got the treat of seeing the shuttle docked with the station going overhead heading Southeast. Boy that baby really moves
