>>> Is that the shuttle? How far off the beach is my guest room Rick? I’m thinking that you are about to get a permanent house guest if the beach isn’t too far away.

Sure was Mike, STS-121 headed for the International Space Station, which I believe is the first launch in history on the 4th of July. We're about 60 miles south and your guest room is a block and a half off the beach ... come on down!

Have you fully recovered?

A few years back, Mrs. medic8r and I were on I-95, on the way to Orlando for our annual Disney fix, when we caught a view very similar to your photos. It was really awesome; gave me that warm feeling where the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Thanks for sharing!

Happy 4th of July...

I hope it is, I don’t think North Korea has such pretty beaches

That’s a pretty impressive sight you capture there, I would love to see the Space Shuttle taking off.
A few years back I was in Orlando,FL... I was in my hotel room watching the news late at night; the news was reporting live that they were waiting on the Space Shuttle to land. Shortly after, I heard a huge sonic boom that rocked the room; I didn’t connect the dots at first, I was like 'what the heck!' , then I realize it must have been the Shuttle... pretty cool; I didn’t see it but sure heard it...

Yeah, or nearly so: 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005. Now we have a 10 month old, so it may be a little while before we get back. Emphasis on little, as I'm hoping Nolan will be able to appreciate it at an early age. Like next week? LOL ...

Methinks you think too small. I'd love to pilot the shuttle. More of a doer than a watcher.

>>I don’t think North Korea has such pretty beaches

My understanding is that it does have some pretty nice beaches, although the water is colder than at the south tip of South Korea.

Then again, I'm still glad it was a shuttle and not a REALLY big test launch from NK. I wonder if their BM test launches were timed for 4th of July as well ?

No....takes me a couple days anymore. I've cut way back on drinking these days as hang overs just hurt too damn much. Gave up heli-skiing for the same reasons last year as well (plus a few fractured vertebras). But I did hit the gym this AM. Half assed work out, but something anyway. I think it's really true.....I'm really in my 40's now……..

Same here brother!

Any of you Disney folks ever get down to the Disney Vero Beach Resort give me a shout, we live just a few blocks away.

The night shuttle launches are extremely cool, even from 60 miles away you can see the second they light off the engines on the pad. The old Atlas rockets were even brighter!
