Anyone else looking into the current crop of TV's coming out? I'm driving myself crazy trying to determine what to get. I started out planning on the A2000 and still might get it, but I've heard mixed reviews (or maybe I am just spending too much time on AVSforum lately). I am also looking at the Mits 52631, and 57732 (when it comes out in the next couple of weeks). I looked at the current Samsungs, but there seemed to be a lot of noise in the picture to me. I am not planning on professional calibration, so I want something that looks good without service menu tweaks. I am not looking at flat panels either, just DLP and SXRD (haven't really looked at JVC's Lcos option).
Anyone else in the same boat, come to any decisions, have any of these models past or present and care to throw in their 2 cents? I'm starting to think I should just pick one and be done with it so that I can stop driving myself nuts!

I was in the same quandry about a year ago. I finally waited until I could see the HDTVs, side by side, with the same source material.
That really helped me make up my mind.

Jason, same answer as for Craig in his thread: buy the A2000.

I'm glad this came up again, my brother in-law is looking to buy a new TV and he is currently looking at the Sharp Aquos LC-45GD7U , has anyone viewed or owned this model or a similiar version, I would love to hear how it stacks up so I can help him on his purchase.

I just bought it! I got an unbelivable deal that I just couldn't pass up. There is a store in NJ called PC Richard. They are having a special that ends today that allows you to buy the TV for the employee pricing rate. MSRP is like 27 or 2800, I got it for 2158.20 plus $85 delivery! 2243.20 total. To think I was going to go to Tweeter tomorrow night and see if I could get everything with tax shipping, etc for 2500. Can't wait for it to arrive now. I'm psyched!

just came back from pc richards, that's a great sale, if only i was ready to buy. still having a problem dropping thousands on a 50' set when sd on a hdtv still looks soft. i hope i don't have to wait another five years or so when hd is the only thing broadcast. by then i'm sure there will another problem.

I am looking at the same 3 sets: Sony KDS50A2000, Samsung HLS5087w & Mitsubishi 52631. I was able to see the first 2 side by side with 70"+ Mitz of the same series a short distance away. I theoretically favored the Sony technology to start with. The saleman gave me the remotes for the Sony & Samsung and said change the settings all I wanted. I was surpised that I never got the Sony to look better than the Samy. The main issue was black levels. While I got them adjusted to where the Sony was slightly better in the blacks it was more washed out over all. The Mitsubishi blacks, as set up were horrible, somewhat matching a review of an in between sized Mitz I read. It will take more investigation but the experience swung me more towards the Samsung which had a very solid picture, as did all the others getting the same signal. This leads me to believe that you cannot judge by what you see in an isolated store display, the signal quality will decieve you much of the time. I also looked at standard def material and never could get to the point where I thought the Sony had any real edge over the Sammy even though I started expecting the Sony would be better. I Like the cases on the Sammy and Mitz better than the Sony.

Are you stuck on a 52" or smaller? The Mits is coming out with the 57732 on 9/1. The 732 has better blacks then the 631. That is the other one I was thinking of waiting for, but with the deal I got vs. that one at 3000 MSRP, this was too good to pass up, plus it fits better in the space I have available.
And yes, to the earlier question, I did get the KDS50a2000.
