Hi All,

Newbie and am excited to be here. I am currently finishing my basement HT/Entertainment area within the next couple of months.

I'm thinking of getting the 6.1 Epic 80 package. Given that the room dimensions are 25' x 12' x 7.5' would this be overkill ??

Any recommended receiver/amp combo ?? If read on various forums that the Outlaw one would work and be best bang for buck. I currently have an AMC 1050 which I was hoping to use for bass shakers.

Cheers !

Welcome

I can tell you if you got 80's along with an ep500 or ep600, you won't need any bass shakers, that combination will knock your house right off its foundation.

thanks Sirquack .. yeah but I thought it would add to the "wow" factor. So I take it the Epic 80 with ep500 won't be overkill for my room dimensions ??

ps. enjoy reading your posts here and on Avsforum.

cheers,

I'm going to be putting the 80/500 system in a smaller room than you are. I've come to realize that while yes they are capable of being overkill for the room, they are also capable of being perfect for the room. Not only that but you'll get to avoid upgraditis if you just get the top set anyway =P

Slitman, again Welcome.
The EP500 or EP600 would be great for your room and Sirquack is correct about them rocking the foundations, I just added a Buttkicker LFE kit onto my main seating couch, it really is fun and does give that extra wow factor along with my 500, enjoy

Welcome Slitman!

I just put an Epic 80/500 5:1 system in a basement HT that is 14 x 16 x 7.75, with an Outlaw 990/7125, so I guess great minds think alike!

I'll let you know how its working out, but first you have to tell me the origin of your nickname. I have a couple of theories...

No such thing as overkill in audio!

The whole house will enjoy the sounds!

Please let me know how it works out !! As for the nickname .. it was given to me back in University/College by a good "lady" friend of mine after she heard stories from other girl friends of how masterfully I paid attention to a certain nether region which most guys didn't ... like I did supposedly.

.. but I digress.

So what were we talking about again ... oh yes !

Please let me know how they sound. I'm hoping to audition them in the not to distant future.

Wow, there I was, thinking I'm a big perv for my imagination kicking around possible origins for your screen name ... like "Maybe he's a gynecologist", or somesuch ... then I read your actual origin and realize that you win the prize for most appropriate use of the blush graemlin. Here he is for an encore:

So were all of your girlfriends' past boyfriends gay, or something? Because most guys that I know spend a lot of time focusing on ladies' nether regions.

Actually, consider that a rhetorical question. I'm creeping myself out and it's only 8AM. Gotta go stamp out mental illness. Yeah, yeah, I'll start with myself ...

Lol, I was thinking the same thing, that he may be a gyno, my wife being in the medical profession has come across a couple of funny gynos names at different meetings, DR. Feltersnatch, Dr. Seymore Koochie, real names, not sure of the spelling
