Sorry for you PS3 fans who wanted one for Christmas. The release date for Europe (which happens before the launch in the US) went from November 11, 2006 to sometime in March 2007.

At this rate, Microsoft will come out with an XBox 720 or something by the time that Sony releases their product. This has to be a HUGE blow to Sony. Missing out on TWO Christmas buying seasons to Microsoft.

Bill Gates is probably giggling like a schoolgirl right now. And that is NOT a pretty picture.

Maybe the delay will mean lower introduction price, but I doubt it.

Sorry for the bad news HomeDad. I know you were really excited about getting one this year.

Dang, that is a bummer.

I was waiting for it to upgrade from my (don't laugh) PlayStation. Now I guess I can go get a PS2 and not have to worry about obsolescence for a while longer ...

Actually, Europe got pushed back, but the US and Japan are still reported to be November. Blue laser shortages.

Here's an article.

"Shooting yourself in the foot" is a phrase that comes to mind.

My bad! Boy I need to read the WHOLE article from now on. I was reading...

Yahoo News and when it said that it was going to miss the Christmas season, I started taking it to mean the entire launch.

The US is still slated for November 17th!

SORRY FOR THE FALSE ALARM.

Although I would bet that if there are these shortages, that the demand will be even bigger.

If only I had enough chutzpah to be one of the eBay sellers.

I don't even want to begin to imagine how much some poor...err, rich fools are going to pay for a PS3 on Ebay. PS2's were going for upwards of a $1000 when they were first released.

I know. Every time something like this is released, I am tempted to get in line early, buy all that I can, sell on eBay and make a profit. Then, my concious kicks in and I don't. Sure, it is just a matter of capitalism... Supply and demand, so to speak, but I just don't think that it is "right" to do it.

Remember years ago, before Tickle Me Elmo were those Furby's? I was able to get about a dozen of those by knowing when a store was getting shipments, and getting there when they opened each time. I would buy 1 or 2, and not hoard them. I NEVER sold a single one on eBay. I sold them all but 3 (which my kids still have) to people I worked with for the amount it cost me. No profit at all.

The looks on their faces when they knew that they weren't going to get cheated by other people was worth it.
