So what causes the weight difference? It's not the lack or abundance of polyfill.

My guess would be different mid/bass drivers.

I'm willing to bet a weight difference that great has to do with the magnetic shielding. If I recall correctly Ian answered a question a long while ago about the signifcant weight difference between an old model M22 vs a new model. The older model weighed considerably more, due to added shielding. He said after doing testing, they found that less was actually more. Meaning that less of the sheilding material actually protected better.

Something does not compute; the Axiom spec for the VP150 says that it weighs 17 lbs. Craig get on a scale with your VP150 and re-establish your total dominance here.

Forgot to mention that when I said 19 and 29lbs I meant the shipping weight. I just put my 150 on a scale and it weighed 17lbs. I'm not sure how Marc got 29lbs for the shipping weight of some 150's, maybe different packaging. All I know is that there was a noticeable difference in weight between the two 150's I had, craig is probably right about the amount of shielding causing the difference.

I don't think there are 12 lbs. (26.4 kg) of packing material for a VP150 either. Now what?

Can anybody answer or take a guess as to how the crossover for the 3 mid/bass drivers work in the vp150? Which frequencies are assigned to which of the drivers?

I'm also wondering if axiom makes resistors for their mid/bass drivers like they do for their tweeters or can the same resistors be used.

I'm asking these questions because I'm trying to figure out if there's any way to reduce the 150's output in the upper midrange frequencies(1-2khz range) Maybe stick a resistor onto one of the mid/bass drivers?

I know this sounds whacky but I'm getting fustrated with the 150's sound character...i guess it's mild, but my ears are extremely picky. If I were to sell it, would anybody out there be interested with one that is chipped in the back bottom left corner? It sounds just like any other 150, I'd be willing to let it go for 200usd. + shipping.

nevermind...did some frequency tests and figured out my spike was around 500-1khz and it was caused by taking out the polyfil. Lesson learned, don't mess with any axiom speakers, hehhe.
