Has anyone heard either the M60/M80 and the RC-50? I am looking to replace my current front speakers (NHT SB3s) with floorstanding ones and auditioned the RC-50s (and RC-70s and Totem Sttafs & Hawks) recently. I preferred the Energys over the Totems (Totems didn't sound as 'airy' and the bass boomed a bit) but the diff between the RC-50 and RC-70 was minimal (RC-70 had a wee bit more bass slam but I have an EP-500, so...). I was simply blown away by the RC-50s - so nice. But as I like the EP-500 a lot (after some trials & tribulations - see the Stereo forum ) I also don't want to rule out the M60/M80. Has anyone heard any combinations of the RC-50 and the Axioms to offer an opinion?

I've not heard the RC-50's, but I do know that the Energy Veritas line is a bit similar to the Axioms. I'd say the Veritas were a bit "warmer", but both have excellent clarity and separation.

The closest speaker I've heard to my M60ti's has been the B&W 703 tower. That speaker sounds very, very similar to the M60ti. If you can give them a listen, you'd have a good idea what the M60ti sounds like.

Thanks! I went to another dealer and auditioned the 703s. Very, very nice and for $4,300/pr I would hope so! Aside from a great bottom end they had very good 'presence' up front and crystal clear highs - does the M60 have the same feeling?
Then the dealer went "let's try something different" and hooked up two other sets of speakers - MonitorAudio RS6s ($1,400/pr) and RS8s ($2,100/pr). And except for a slight (very, very slight) reduction in the top notes I found them just as good as the 703s! The RS8 had a wee bit more bottom, but I could only hear it on one song where an african folk group had a singer that could hit about 21hz (I swear). Without back to back against the RC-50 it's hard to say, but that RS6 for $1400 sure sounds like a killer. The 703s did have a bit more 'presence' though...

I compared the 703s to the M60s and found the M60s to be a bit better (more balanced throughout high, mid and bass).

Never heard the RC50 though sorry. Tuff to beat Axiom value.
