Hello all,
First I would like to say that I have been an extremely happy Axiom owner for over 3 years. My current setup includes M80's, vp-150, qs-8's, and ep-350 in a 7.1 system in my HT room. I am now looking at purchasing a system for my bedroom. The room measurements are 14'x16'. I will be purchasing a Panasonic Plasma 50PH9UK and would like a systm to compliment the flat panel. I have been looking at the Architectural series and wonder if this is the way to go rather than a bookshelf system. The Plasma will be 42" from floor to the bottom of the unit, which is approx 28" in height. My concern is not only the shape of my room but the logistics and felxibility of installation. I would prefer to stay within the same tonal quality of the M80's, which I have come to love. Your opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Here is my inital idea, M2's or M22's with vp-150 up front, and qs-8's in the rear. The benefit of going this route, lets say, with stands for the FL and FR, I would be able to pull them forward into the room onto the same 'plane'(or a little forward) with respect to the center channel, which from what I understand, is favorable. Would the M22's be too much for this size room? Or, will the M2's be underwhelmed by a vp-150? The only hitch going with the Architectural series, as you can see by the picture, will be the not so favorable angle of the walls adjacent to where I will be mounting the Plasma. Suggestions?

Calo, welcome. Your room isn't extremely small(even after you resized your post)and M22s certainly wouldn't be too much. Three of them across the front(since you'll have plenty of room beneath the screen there doesn't appear to be a good reason not to use the same vertical center there)should be excellent.

QS4s would appear to be adequate for that size room and should be separated as widely as possible(a little more than in your diagram), since they're side surrounds, even when mounted on the back wall.

Hello JohnK,
Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply. Thanks for the advice on the M22's, including the center. I suppose I shouldn't worry about off axis with a vertically oriented center since most of the time I will be viewing from the comfort of my bed. Am I correct in my line of thinking? Regarding the surrounds, would it be more effective to stick the QS's right in the corners of the room and angle them at 45 degrees?

Yes, you should worry about off-axis since that will reflect off the side walls to your listening position in the center, but you're under a misapprehension as to the vertical center. The main reason for the suggestion(besides being an exact match for the mains)is that a vertical center generally has wider and smoother horizontal dispersion than a horizontal center. If anything, listening from directly in the center on the bed might suggest using no center speaker and allowing the mains to handle the "phantom" center channel, since the shift of center image for off-center listeners wouldn't be a factor.

Thanks again John,
You have given me alot to digest. I think I'm going to have to go now and plop down in front of my M80's, crank 'em up, and do some real thinking:)
What are your thoughts on running 5 M22's?

For surrounds I'd prefer the wide dispersion of the QSs.

That makes sense, I love my QS-8's.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the M22's, VP-150 and QS-8's in the Charcoal Smoke to match my Panny Plasma. I'll post my impressions and pix after they arrive and have them set up. Amazing, I placed my order this morning and they have already shipped them. It is great to see that Axiom has continued in their outstanding success regarding customer service. Cudos!

Ps. Thanks again John for all your help. I will try and mount the QS's on the side walls like you suggested.

I didn't suggest that they necessarily have to be mounted on the side walls. They should be widely separated and a little farther back than directly to the side of the listening position. From the bed, on the back wall and separated almost to the side walls is fine.
