I'm checking out the "Limited Edition High Gloss Cherry now on Sale" and I was wondering if anybody else has this (or other custom finish) and also owns a "regular" finish product for comparison. I was leaning toward F.O. Boston Cherry speakers, but the HG Cherry pictures look nicer. Are the actual finishes equal in quality, or are the custom finishes a better quality vinyl product and/or application?

I do not own the HG cherry nor the Boston Cherry finishes but have seen them and IMO the HG Cherry is the better of the 2 finishes by a long shot. That high gloss just makes them look so rich. The finishes are applied the same but the HG just adds that extra touch to make them stand out.
just my 2 cents.

Finish samples! $10 each. I just ordered three different samples myself, and while I didn't really like spending $30 on "nothing", I figured if I was going to spend $2700 on a speaker setup, it was probably worthwhile to get my hands on the samples. It would stink to have the speakers arrive and then perpetually wonder if you'd have rather bought the different finish...
And Axiom folks... if you monitor these posts... SVS provides finish samples FOR FREE upon request! (They are just little 2" x 1" squares with no grille cloth... but FREE! At least the basic finishes, perhaps? Hmmm? Hmmm?

The quality of the vinyl is the same, the difference is that the 4 "stock" colors are just that, "In Stock". The custom vinyl colors are ordered so that is why it takes 4-6 weeks to build. Andrea and Amie from Axiom have mentioned this before on these forums.
Obviously the color you select is up to what you like.

Thing about Axiom? You get that money refunded when you buy speakers. Kind of makes sense.

I have both boston cherry and HG cherry, The HG cherry is alot nicer, in ever aspect. IMO. It looks much more realistic, It doesnt have that sort of cheesy fake wood grain texture, High gloss makes it look like they are alot more expensive than they really are.
Bad part is that it shows fingerprints easily, might be more suceptible to scratches, Im not sure because i have treated mine like a priceless item. Granted the boston cherry is nice too, But I do like this much better.

Thanks for the feedback. One more question: my LCR (most notably the center channel) are going to be right under the PJ screen. Do you think they are too shiny to be placed within a couple inches of the image? The VP kind of slants backward, so maybe the reflection won't be as noticeable... then again, if the glare is not aiming at my eyes, then it would be washing out the screen instead, yes? Oh well, I can't expect you guys to solve every last detail for me I appreciate all the input.

I currently have a 7.1 Mansfield Beech setup with my front projection screen. You do notice the speakers when watching a movie, I assume high gloss would reflect more than standard vinyl.
I should be receiving my new 7.1 setup from Axiom next week, this time around I ordered Ebony, which will completly disapear against my front black wall.
See photos on my website.
