I am sort of on a budget here. I really don't want to spend over $800 on a subwoofer. I was going to get an SVS 20-39+, but they have just raised their price to $899, and then add shipping you've got over $1k... My setup as of now is in my sig. My room right now is like 14x16x8. I will be moving these to a bigger room that will be around 20x14-15x8. The point of this post though is to find the opinion on HSU. I've heard some pretty great things. They have some differences from SVS. I've heard they sound better for music, because the HSU is a little more tight with the bass? I guess it depends on your preference. If I go with an HSU I will be getting the VTF-3 MK3. I would just like some opinions on people who have, or know someone who has this subwoofer. I kind of wanted to know how it went with an axiom setup. Or just general opinion on how well this sub, or similiar, preforms. Thanks in advance.

Tim, I have the VTF3 mkII and it is a great all around performer. Very powerful for movies, but agile enough for music. One of the best values in terms of price/performance.

I have not heard SVS subs, but other members here have them and you can't go wrong there, either.

I used to have a Klipsch sub, and the Hsu outperforms it in all aspects. I assume the newer Hsu subs are even better.

In that price range, I honestly don't think you can do better than the VTF-3. Go a little higher in price ($1080) and the (factory outlet) EP500 becomes a serious, serious consideration.

I've been very happy with my HSU VTF3-MKII, for the price it is awesome.

Depending on your space and budget you may want to go for the EP500. I started with one and it was a serious sub, very hard to let go of it. But, for what I paid for the HSU it wasn't justifiable to keep the EP500 in my space. (20L x 10.5W)

Either way you should be very happy

I've been using Hsu subs for a few years now. I started with the VTF-2 MK 1 then went on and bought a second one. I used these two on my music system for some time. They were great perfomers. When the STF series came out I jumped on a STF-3 for my music system and moved one of the VTF-2s to my H/T system, which is made by Hsu too, I sold the other one. I have been enjoying the STF-3 ever since with no plans on changing it anytime soon. Even if I did it would be replaced by another Hsu sub.

Where do you live that the shipping is $100+? I was lucky and ordered my SVS PCI+20-39 4 days before they raised the price, when it was $825. The total cost was like $856, so about $30 with shipping. You could look into the regular PCI 20-39 at $599 (or the 25-30 @ $549). Absolutely nothing wrong with those and based on how my + is set up, I bet you'd have plenty of headroom with a regular PCI.

My room is 24x18x10, and the PCI+ absolutely rocks. The EP500 is a truly marvelous sub (just look around!), but if you're on a budget, it's a bit pricey. SVS and HSU make very highly respected subs, and I doubt you can really go wrong with any of them.

Okay so maybe the shipping is $38(im in Kansas City, KS.) I have been looking at SVS for quite a while now. Almost a year, but i have just finished building my system except for the subwoofer. That was what i was going to purchase last. When I heard about them raising the price of the 20-39pc+ another $75(which its still a great price)... I didnt know what to think. I have been looking at the HSU's for some time now as well. Just comparing and seeing what I might want to go with. My friend is actually letting me borrow his 20-39pc+ to try out on my system for a little while, and then I will make my decision. Thanks for all the help.
