Hey, that's looking great! But you're already out of media storage.

We're definitely running out of media stroage ... the empty space below the refrigerator was originally measured and plumbed for an ice maker but I've axed that idea so now my plans are to build a media storage cabinet instead, one of *the* last projects to finish the room. One of these days.

Very nice job, Rick. I thought the room looked wonderful before and here you've gone and made it even better!

Rick, the room looks awesome. (and very comfortable!) The burgundy paint really sets off that wall.
Out of curiosity, what are the dimensions, again?

When I saw it before it was a beautiful space and I couldn't imagine it looking any better. But now you have gone and proved my imagination wrong- AMAZING!
The color of that one wall really makes a great focal point and brings the room alive. Well done, bravo!

Incredible room! What is the width of the room, and the size of your TV? My basement that I will finish has very similar dimensions. Well, I think a little deeper, 16x38.

Well, yeah, Peter. I guessed that. I was looking for just a teeny, tiny bit more detail. Of course, Rick probably was, too.
What always surprises me about Rick's room (in photos, anyway, as I've not yet had the pleasure of his company) is that it is really a huge freaking room, but everything looks all nice and proportional because all the components, TV, etc are also really freaking huge. I mean, you put a 70" TV in a regular room, and it would look like *something*.
EP600 still looks like a monster, though.

He probably never walks around naked in that room for the same reasons.

Thanks for the compliments everybody ... most of the ideas came from viewing pictures here on the forum!
Monday was one of those days that makes one wonder if working for a living is really worth it or not, I didn't get a chance to go online at all so whenever I come in from work today I'll answer all of your questions.

That room looks sooooo inviting. I think I'd be sitting in there all day just listening to music and watching dvd's. Good thing there's a window or I'd never see the sun.

Rick--
I'll start with the obligatory but sincere: Damn, that's nice. In fact, it's so nice that I sent a link to my wife so she could see it. And as someone from Austin, I'm always happy to see SRV so proudly displayed!
A couple of people have asked, and I'm curious, too: what are the dimensions of the room? I have a screened in porch that I keep fantasizing about converting someday....
Thanks, Rich

Thanks again everybody for the kind words and compliments, we got darn near all of our ideas from several of the rooms we've seen here on the Axiom board (Dave, Ray and others!) as well as a couple of other forums. Hopefully we can share what we've done with a screen room to help anybody else who wants to pursue a dedicated HT, media room. The room measures 25'x 14' and the ceiling is 7'3"(flat) 7'8"(peak). Michael, don't count me out of the woods just yet ol' buddy ... I *still* have the additional media storage cabinet under the refrigerator to build! Tom, the big black thing is one of four acoustic panels I picked up whenever I had aspirations of tweaking the room into acoustical perfection but bypassed that idea whenever I found out the little gained wasn't enough to make up for the aesthetics lost, so therefore it ain't nothing but a black rectangle to put the TV (centerline of wall) in proportion with the two pictures. Any lower, the pictures looked funny but alone with the TV they somewhat overwhelmed the TV, the panel fills the void ... we're open for suggestions though! Peter, but ... that's *exactly* why I feel so comfortable running around the room naked! Rich, I do like Stevie Ray! While in Dallas this past December I did get a chance to visit his grave site but the museum is only open two weekends a month and I made the trip on the wrong weekend. I'm still kicking myself for not taking the 3(?) hour drive down to Austin, maybe next time. Also you know this room actually started out as a built in screen room, fortunately the trusses were already in place so it was primarily a frame it up, electrical and drywall job ... I actually enjoyed it. Thanks again everybody for the compliments and don't forget, we're always open for suggestions and if anybody is in the area at any time ... drop on by!

Thanks Rick. I precisely remembered that your room had been a screened in porch in its prior life, and that's exactly why I sent it to my wife! She's actually OK with it; I'm hesitating because of cost (and my lack of skills to do any of it myself) and the loss of that outdoor space. We installed a pool last year, and due to impervious cover requirements, could not build much of a deck. So the porch is the main egress btw house and pool, as well as a nice way to oversee pool activity (kids), entertain (adults), stay away from mosquitoes (everyone), etc. Anyhow, my porch is 14' x 20', so a little shorter than yours, but fairly comparable. I really do love your room. I may contact you for more details offline! Take care, Rich

Thanks for the general invitation. I hope to get to meet you and see your fine room the next time I have to go visit the "outlaws" in Royal Palm Beach. Did I say "outlaws"? I meant inlaws.
