I haven't had any HDMI problems because I run the HDMI/ DVI cable directly to my HDTV. Worked every time.

It's not that you're not having issues because you ran the cable directly to your TV, you are not having issue because everything is just working right at the momment, all in sync if you will. What the article is getting at is that the next version of HDCP may require you to update the firmware you are running in order to use the latest games or movies on your HD system whenever they release a new update, especially more difficult on the sets sold now and a few years ago and this would require USB ports on Stand alons DVD players, AVR's etc. its just getting way out of control
