I put one of the M3s on the TV for the centre channel, and there was interference on the TV, so I was forced to put it on top of the fireplace (the TV is right in front of the fireplace...wow, my wife is a good wife!).

Just wondering if there is any way to fix this?

That's odd they are shielded speakers, possible problem with the shielding inside the speaker? Maybe add a spacer of some sort or make shift stand between the M3 and the TV. It should just need a few inches, a 2X8 comes to mind for you temporary setup.

They're not as well shielded as the VP series.

Mabey i'll try the other M3 that I got to see if it is a problem with the speaker.

The other M3 is still boxed

Good thing I ordered 2 of them! I was thinking about adding a spacer to see if it works.

I have had my M22's touching the side of my TV and have no problems.

What kind of TV do you have?

Some generic Toshiba 27" that my wife got on sale at Superstore about 2 years ago for $230

It's an 8-9 yr old Panasonic 36" CRT.

just to let you all know, I got an email back from Axiom stating that the M3 is not 100% sheilded and will cause tube TVs to distort.

One other thing that could be tried , Robb, is to turn the M3 upside down so that the larger magnet on the mid-woofer is a little farther away. This apparently varies with different CRT TVs(other types don't operate using magnetic deflection)since some instances of using M2s or M22s have created no problem.

I think back to some pictures of the Charcoal custom vinyl in someones room, they had 3 M3s across the front, and the one on the CRT was upside down. It seems to have worked for him, I will give it a try and post my findings here.

You will have to let us know if the speaker flip changes the sound any? Just curious, as there are many speaker companies making their speakers with this configuration stating improved performance, cleaner sound etc. I can't see it making alot nor a noticable difference.

I've had this exact same issue with M3's. The woofers are not %100 shielded.

I have never tried flipping it, though, and I am also curious to know what the effect on the sound would be.

Well I tried it last night, looks like it does the trick and doesn't have any effect on the TV (that I can see).

Prior to having the speaker on top of the TV, I had it about 1 foot behind and 1 foot above the top of the TV on top of the fireplace landing thingy.

I am not sure what to think about the centre now, I think I preffered it up top on the fireplace. The M3 has a very nice response for vocals, very nice low end, it is not "thin" by any means and can handle any type of vocals with clarity and depth (although I have yet to try tree beard for the true test).

In the end, I don't think the sound was changed much from switching the tweeter to the bottom.

Magnetic interference with the M3 or Axiom's other bookshelf models and CRT picture-tube sets is relatively rare, and usually moving the speaker a few inches away will eliminate the problem. However, older large-screen CRT sets (36 to 40-inch picture tubes) may be vulnerable because the electron gun is so far away from the face of the picture tube.

In fact, the old Mitsubishi 40-inch CRT sets (no longer produced) were so sensitive to magnetic fields that often moving them to a different location in a room required re-calibration because of slight changes in the earth's magnetic field!

Try changing the position of the M3, even forwards or backwards relative to the picture-tube face, to eliminate the interference.

Glad to know that flipping the M3 cured the problem. In a center-channel application, I very much doubt there would be any audible difference between the tweeter above or below the woofer.
