Randy did you do a side by side comparison?

That probably did not come out as I intended it to sound. I was trying to not discount the 60's for having lack of good bass. I think they are very good in that category. I think most people would be amazed at their performance, and most likely would need nothing better.

Yes, the 80's have better bass performance, which I assume is partially due to the larger enclosure. I would not say it is leaps and bounds better, but pretty noticable. If I never upgraded to the 80's, I would still be very satisfied with the 60's.

I did not get a chance to do a side/by/side comparison, but from memory I do notice an improved response in the low frequencies.

The original poster is aware of the lower impedance, right? As a prospective buyer, I would have liked to purchase the 80s, as I want to blow my money on speakers for the moment, and not amplification. However, I don't want to stress out my Onkyo receiver with 4ohm towers.

The op mentioned the Emotiva MMC/IPS, this will not have any problems with the M80s. Audioholics used an Onkyo 601 to drive the M80s in a reveiw of the 601.

Thanks wid. You may be assuaging my fears in getting the 80s. A different fear I picked up at audioholics was that the vp150 center Im looking at had a hard time keeping up with the 80s. I believe the reviewer may have suspected the double tweeters of the 80s to be the possible cause. Your thoughts?

I've never had a problem with my vp150 with either my m60's or my current m80's. If setup properly, you will be in Axiom utopia.

I will have to let someone else answer that for you. I don't run my M80s in a H/T set up. They are in a 2.1 music system. From the years I have been on the forum I don't think there has been a handful of folks that was not thrilled with the VP150.

John, as far as the finishes, you can order samples to see what you like. What you spend on them will be credited toward your purchase. Can't lose that way.
