Steve,

I don't know what your budget is, but if you can swing it, I'd strongly consider the HSU VTF-3 MK3.

I've looked at that sub and the price is very attractive, but its physical dimensions are too big. I can't run wire to the opposite wall near a corner so it's going to have to sit with the rest of the HT. There is its little brother, the VTF-2 MK2 which might be small enough and per the rating given it would probably prove to be adequate even with the smaller 10" woofer.

I also happend upon the SVS SB12-Plus which is housed in a 14" near-cube enclosure. I haven't searched for ratings on it yet but will do so this evening. Even with such a small enclosure it still boasts a 12" woofer.

Can anyone recommend a good site which reviews these products?

Thanks

Randy - how big is the room you are in? I see you returned the ep125 for the ep175. You also run the M22's and QS4's. I'm considering an Axiom system with M22's, QS4's, and EP125, (phantom centre). I just have a small condo living room. Speakers will be facing the narrow side (only 10-22 ft. Room is open to the dinign/kitchen area on one side, but the living room area is just 10 x 12 or so. I don't need a lot of bass, just enough to round out the lower end of the M22's and to add some low end for movies.

Steve,

Here's a review the the SVS SB12-Plus. For it's size, it's really a great sub.

Hello,
both rooms I have used my axiom speakers in are about 12x16. The EP125 never excited me, and then it got a little staticky so I sent it back. Not sure if mine was defective or not, it may have been a cable ??, but I took advantage of axiom's upgrade program, and upgraded to the EP175.

The EP175 does round out the overall bass of the M22's. I know other posters talk about better bang for the buck with other sub manufacturers at this price range, but I wanted all my speakers to match.

It looks like you are on a tight budget, going with a phantom center and all. I dont have any experience with a phantom center so I cant comment on that. If I had a chance to purchase my sub over, I would have went ahead and gotten the EP350 ( the $$ jumps between the lower 3 subs are not that steep), but ultimately would like an EP500 (yea that is a big $ jump). My brother has the EP500 and I just think it has so much potential, when properly calibrated and placed.

I dont know where you are located , but you're more than welcome to come audition my EP175 , in boston cherry. You can hear them with my M22's. My M22's are not 'v2', but the 'ti' version, FWIW

good luck
Randy

The use of phantom centre is not really due to budget but space/aesthetics, etc. I'm trying to find a balance of good quality but clean look. The tv will be wall mounted and I don't want to stick a speaker under/above it. My living room is just 10 x 12 (w/ one side open). I'm kinda far from you but thanks for the audition offer!

If you are staying with axiom EP350 over the EP175. Had the EP175 and it is good for the cost , but it is in my sons bedroom. for the extra $100 no question
