question. I have the QS8's for my rears and backs. Given that is alot of reviews they say the best placement for rears and backs are two feet above the listening position or 6 ft from the floor. Given that most rooms have 8ft - 10 ft cielings this leaves approx. 2ft plus room above the qs8.
Now the qs8's are quads with the speaker on top. If I use the bracket for one of my qs8's as I cannot wall mount on of them do to a door way. it puts it about 4 inches from the ceiling, will I still get the same affect as if it was 2 ft from the ceiling. will the sound diffuse differently

My QS4s are ~4 inches from the ceiling, and seem to work just fine. Axiom wouldn't make the bracket if it didn't work.

It's a midrange/woofer on top, not a tweeter, so it should be OK I think. I ran one of my QS8s with the bottom a few inches off a table (back in the soup can days) and didn't really notice a difference compared to the other QS8 which was mounted on the wall with the T-bracket.

Here is a pic of my rear center channel about 3-4" from ceiling and I have run them vertically as well, I couldn't hear a difference tilted or vertical, WAF was for tilted, said "it seemed like they should be angled toward listening area".

Just for clarification, it is your left/right surrounds and left/right rears, correct, not rears and backs. I was worried you had 4 Q's along the back wall.

yes, as you said .. 2 on the rear side and 2 on the rear back. But, unfortunatly last night I didn't mount on of them or check to see it was actually lock in on the mounting t bar thing and on came crashing down 6 ft. took out a light switch, night lite and smashed the bottom grill and broke the front edge. So now I am 6 channel not that it will matter much. But will have to re order and I will bet the new ones will have a different tone than the 4 year old one I had.

That blows. I had the same thing happen to me when I was mounting one of my QS8s. I thought it was on the t-bracket and it wasn't. When I let it go, it stayed there for a few seconds before it dropped. Luckily for me, I broke it's fall by sacrificing the wall and my body. I ended up with two long gauges in the wall and a very large bruise on my leg and foot. Those things are heavy! The Q didn't incur any damage. Whew! After spackling and repainting the wall, things were good as new.

I visited a local Axiom board member to help him install and calibrate his new Axiom system. When I was wall-mounting his second QS8, the same thing happened to me. I placed it on the bracket, tested it for secureness (not well enough!), and let go. It stayed for a split second and then started to fall. I was still right under it so I was able to catch it before anything got damaged. The guy was a great sport about it, but I'm sure it would have been a different story had I dropped it.

I think its safe to say that when I finally mount my QS8s, I will stand with my hands under it for about an hour...
