When looking at the outdoor speakers...I few questions popped into my head that I think should be addressed on the website.

Can these speakers play being completely exposed to the rain? How "weather resistant" are they?
If rain dribbles into the tweeter or covers the woofer, will it be ok?

Does the grill have a "seal" around the edge to prevent water from dripping on the tweeter and woofer? On the website it just says "metal mesh grills".

I'm sure these are things that people are going to wonder before just putting them outside...I would. Maybe those things could be communicated so the buyer can be confident in the buy.

I myself would like more information as well... there is another post here where a few people mentioned installation tips and tricks as well.

I was wondering the same things.

The port on the back is screened to keep bugs out, what about water/snow?

Folks, if they are outdoor speakers, they are going to get wet!!!!!

The people at Axiom certainly have considered this "fact."

I'll let you know when I get my preorder.

I agree Rat, especially since Axiom is up in God's country, I'm sure they tested these scenarios. A phone call would resolve the question.

i'd be more concerned about ice, snow & the occasional errant varmint. i would guess even outdoor speakers could use some environmental consideration.

The Algonquin M3 Outdoor speakers are ok to be left in the rain. They have a port but it is bent up inside the cabinet on an angle both up and to one side. This allows the M3 to be placed either up right or on its side and water can not go up the port. The parts themselves are not affected by water either so it you happen to drop one in the pool by mistake you could just remove the woofer and empty out the water from inside the cabinet and you are good to go again.

Ian, have they been tested extensively in the -40C weather conditions that are common to the harsher prairie climates in winter?
I simply cannot commit to an outdoor speaker that hasn't been frozen at a molecular level before purchasing. A good test would probably be equivalent to 14 days in a -60C freezer or a bit more serious would be straight 1 minute immersion in liquid nitrogen followed by direct testing in the anechoic chamber.
After all, we do like to party outside in the Winterpeg season.

I think it might be good to include...some fact like that in the description on the website. It would just help business...something like "...even in the rain" or talk about how the port is angled to keep out rain, something like that. I just think it would make it sound more impressive. Just my 2 cents.

It does look like you guys put a lot of thought into the speaker...kudos to that!

Now...if they can be *accidentally* dropped in the pool...can they play underwater too? I'm sure the kids will want a seamless audio experience...even under water.
