I just setup my new stereo system on the office: M3 Eggshell White, custom height stands to match the tweeter height with my ears on the office chair, and a Sherwood Newcastle RX-770.

I just cant say how much I am impressed of the M3's. I already have M80's and M22's, and I must say, that personally, I am enjoying the M3's more that the M22 alone.

They are just impressive, and in my rectangle shaped room, they sound superb. I am in love.

I just wanted to add another post to share. I know there is thousands of post with the same message, but now I understand... I needed to express my impression.

Next purchase (mid to long term): depending of my travel schedule, a tube amp to drive the M3.. and sell the RX-770. Please throw suggestions on high power Tube amps (I like to listen at high SPL, so I'll need something on the +35w range)

Rgds

Have you done an M22/M3 A/B test review? I would be interested to hear the results.

What he said.

A whole bunch of us would be interested in an M3 vs M22 shootout. I was able to compare M2, M3 and M60 side by side but have never been able to do any comparisons with M22s.

Two years back when I ordered my HT speakers from Axiom I went with the M3's for mains. But I was really curious about the sound of the M22's and if I would prefer them so I tracked down SeanF (who has M22's) and he agreed to give me an audition. I brought along my M3's and compared them for a couple hours.

We did our best to make sure the SPL was the same for each but otherwise simply a/b'ed them. On the simpler music like jazz (Miles Davis - Kind of Blue) and female vocals (Diana Krall, Natalie Cole or Kd Lang - Engenue) the M22's were my favourite. The mid's and highs came through so wonderfully clear and detailed. For some of the more involved and heavier rock music like Floyd DSOTM I often preferred the M3's as they seemed to be a little more forgiving or carried the drums and heavy electric guitar sounds a little better than the M22's (not a huge difference, but a little better; and of course had a little more lower end). I listen to a fair bit of rock and blues so was tempted to stay with the M3's but I also just love good female vocals and some jazz music. I loved how the M22's reproduced the sound so I upgraded to them in the end.

That is my vague recollection of the comparison. In the last couple weeks I purchased a pair of M3's for the den so if I get around to comparing the two again I'll post a more detailed description of what I hear.

Once my M2s arrive, I will do an M3/M22 comparison as the M3s won't be mounted anymore.

I hate to say this, but I think the M2s will sound better as a centre channel than the M3s

After raving all about the M3s for so long, I feel embarrassed. Oh well, now I will have M3s upstairs, M2s and M22s downstairs.

Oh no, you mean John was right? Not to mention almost all the other posts about the matching of the M2's with M22's and M60's. Who would have guessed? Had to rub it in a little, but sometimes being wrong works out for the best anyway. 2 Axiom listening areas. Now I am really jealous.

I know that I should have listened to the all knowing John...Sheesh! I was planning on getting a set for upstairs anyway...now I have M3s which are perfect without the Sub. And for the LOTR trilogy day, I will set them up for a 7.1 setup. Should be sweet.

Has anyone been able to compare directly W3s with the M3s ? I am going to get a pair of W3 for my kitchen (hey, I like good sound when I cook ) and I have read nothing but glowing accolades for the M3.. just wondering if the sound is a bit different or a LOT different given the designs between the bookshelf and the architectural model.

I cant do the A/B comparison now. My M22 are in Venezuela and my M3 are with me on the Ecuadorian Jungle (0deg 6'0''N , 76deg 52'0'' W, from Google Earth).
