OK, the last time I asked for assistance in picking a present for my son you guys were great help. So, I am asking again.
We are going to get him an XBOX for his birthday and I didn't realize there were multiple choices. The options are XBOX 360 core $299 XBOX 360 premium $399 XBOX 360 elite $479
Big price spread - anyone have any suggestions on which offering I should get? Thanks so much for your help

Get a Wii. Sorry, no "help" here. I'm sure he'll be thrilled regardless; I bet the difference will be in how much "support" you have to provide or how much extended functionality you can get later. Somebody with better thumbs than me will be along shortly, I'm sure.

For games I would go with the premium, mainly because you will need the Hard Drive space.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Depends really on what your kid will be doing, and what kind of TV he will be using?
If he doesn't have an HDTV, and won't be downloading alot of stuff and playing online etc go for the core.
If he has an HDTV, and will be playing online downloading stuff, get the premium.
The Elite is really a waste of money unless you plan to use the Xbox 360 for upconverting dvds to HD over HDMI. THe premium has component cables capable of HD games just like the Elite.
I would go for the premium myself.

Once again you guys all come through. Thanks so much for the advice and now I can make an informed purchase. He will be utlizing a HDTV and looks like we will be going with the premium.
WhatFurrer - He will be turning 14 and is so psyched about getting the 360 although there is still the uncertainty as we have not let on a bit that he will get one. I just can't wait until he opens the present and how excited he will be. That will be so great! Oh, BTW I may have to sneakin a bit of time on the machine too. Round Rock's not that far away, come on down some time and we will fire up the 360 and the grill.
Hutzal - off topic but just have to ask. I see you are running a pair of M3's for center. What are your thoughts? I have an extra pair of M3's and have been thinking about doing the same.
Thanks

And what's stopping you?!?!
Do you know (of) John Bridge, famous Katy resident, author and tile setter?

Ok then I will put them up this weekend. Guess all that I needed was a little nudge.
I know of John Bridge but don't know him personally. I think that he used to host a forum for laying tile. Have you seen his work?

I bought two of his books and used to be a regular at THAT forum (which is still active and very helpful). Nudge nudge nudge.

Thanks
I initially had M3s as centres, they did a very good job in dialog for movies and such. The problem arose when I started listening to 2 channel music utilizing Neo: 6. Quite simply, the M3 centres are not as clear and precise as the M2/M22 speaker. They are much warmer, and possess a very warm and thick sound.
I have since switched my M3s for M2s and like them alot better as a centre channel. I need to update my page The M2s are just amazing speakers, they match the M22s perfectly. However, if I had M50s, M60s, or M80s, I may have just stuck with the M3s, but the M22s just didn't match them.
I am now using them upstairs . I highly recommend dual centre channel bookshelves tho, if you have one above and below, the dialog is fixed right in the middle of the screen.
Also, good choice with the premium. The Elite is a waste of money right now IMHO.
