Ah...now I have found it! It was a great concert and the sound was surprisingly good for a hotel ballroom, albeit a large one. There ARE some great courses up here! Unfortunately all of my "stuff" (clubs, stereo system, HT system, my record collection, etc.) is still in storage and will be for a couple more months while we do some renos on the home we just purchased.

Don't forget, you'll need to add a nice fishin' boat to your "stuff" now that you're up there \:\) .

I saw Pearl Jam last Thursday night. They always put on a fantastic show. Though there is a lot of complaining about this particular show on the Pearl Jam board, I thought it was really good. They are fun because they change up their set list, so you never know what you are going to get. We got a lot of stuff that is not in their "Greatest Hits" list. Not so great for casual fans, but for us diehards we like the deeper cuts.

I am lucky in that regard. They seem to consistently come to the Washington, D.C. area when they tour. I've seen them four or five times now, and saw Eddie Vedder solo three times. I'm a big fan.

This past weekend I went to the DC 101 Chili Cook-Off. It was fun. Stone Temple Pilots headlined. Before them Alice in Chains played. Four other bands before that, only one of which I liked enough to mention--Cage the Elephant.

AIC was fantastic. Weird watching them without Layne Staley, but the new lead singer is really good. They are coming back to DC later this summer, and I think I'll go see them again.

STP was good, though they were, as usual, late to the stage. Also, my glasses were broken halfway through their set when I tried to help someone who was not having a lot of luck with her crowd-surfing attempts. I could only see with one eye after that. Fortunately, I've seen them a few times before, and I really needed new glasses anyway, so it wasn't the end of the world.

I finally made it to a concert this past week. I saw the Eagles at the Pacific Coliseum. This was my first Eagles concert.

Tremendous and fantastic beyond mere words.

Started up at about 7:45. Stopped at about 8:45 for 15 minutes or so, then played through to 10:50. Most every hit, about six songs from the most recent album, and a bunch of solo stuff from Henley and Walsh, including an old James Gang song.

Consummate musicians and perfect, beautiful harmonies. Four original members plus another guitarist (who was SO good), two keyboard players, a percussionist, and four guys in the horn section, one of who played violin too. Terrific sound. Really great. I sat very close with a great full view of the stage and the three high-def screens. Close enough to see the fingers moving on the frets, but not close enough to see what notes. ;-)

Henley is starting look a bit older, like your old uncle that you remember from when you were a kid (OK, maybe that’s just me \:\) ). But Joe looked to be in fantastic shape, and looks to be in his late forties, but that just can’t be. And wow, what a player.

Worth every penny of the $200 ticket, the priciest concert that I’ve ever attended. But I just couldn’t pass as I might never get the chance again, and I’ve loved their songs since I was a little kid. Seriously.

About 10 to 12 thousand in attendance. Very cool and intimate considering that I understand that they’ll now be continuing on in big stadiums with opening acts as the tour continues, with far more people in attendance.

Don't miss them if you can go.

Johnny Winter !!!!

I saw Edgar Winter in Vegas in the 70's ..... Just a word of advise ...

albino/peyote/Lysergic acid diethylamide combinations are not advised in this particular concert type of visionquest!

I always wanted to see Johnny Winter before he died. Too bad I missed my opportunity! He really stunk up the place, and Joyce and I left after four songs.

Luckily, Joe Louis Walker was very good and Ronnie Earl was awesome!

Wow, that would be disappointing Mark. I'm a pretty big fan and have a pretty good collection of Johnny Winter.
