Hello all. This will be my very first post in the Axiom Forum. I have been reading it for over a year now, though, and am very impressed with everyone's knowledge here. Without knowing it you guys have helped me with my soon to be set up room. So I will get to my question for you. In the next few weeks we will be starting an addition to our home. It will basicly be MY room (The Mrs. is finally giving in)as it will be a new den. I am configuring the size to set up for home theater use and am putting together all of the equipment I will be buying. So......All else being equal which VaSSallo finish do you guys like better b/c I am torn. It will either be the Cherry Wood with Chestnut Stain or High Gloss Black. I love the Cherry but there is just something sweet about the HG Black. Thoughts? Thank you in advance and hopefully I can begin to post more often.

If you're paying extra for wood, it should look like wood.

Ken does make a good point, but the finish choice is up to you. Have you requested some samples? The cost counts towards your speaker purchase when you later order.

Thanks for your quick response. No I haven't ordered samples yet but will definitely do so.

It's kind of hard to make a recommendation without the context of what else is going on aesthetically in the room.

Our friends sirquack and dllewel both had interesting journeys into custom finishes a while back. Perhaps somebody said something compelling. I can't remember.

Like Ken, I'm somewhat drawn to the real wood veneers, but I do understand the classic elegance of the HG Black.

I'm sure you'll be delighted either way.

as ^^^^^ post above if you are paying for wood might as well show it off. Plus although I love the piano black ...finger prints dust and smudges show up easy.

I really love the Cherry Nutmeg though

Yeah fingerprints is an issue I have not really considered. I have 2 little girls (3yr and 1 yr) so you have given me something to think about. Thanks for the links Tom.

So you'd best be thinking about nose prints too

Regarding finish, I have to think it's going to be driven a lot by the colours & textures in the rest of the room. The nice thing is that you have the option of matching the speaker finish to the room and are not stuck doing it the other way round.
