You would think an IT guy could figure this out. Anyway, my folks used to use AOL dial up, but I convinced them to get Qwest DSL with MSN premium for about the same price and lots faster.

Anyway, the problem they are having is in regards to printing emails. When they go to their inbox and try to print an email, it is almost like it is printing the html code that I see if I "view source". Below is portion of the email, any ideas why they are not seeing the email?

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0........
<HTML _ IE Display URL="mailhtml:mid:......
BASE HREF="mailhtml:mid........
<Style> HMTL font family Times New Roman"
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content"text/html"
<DIV>hey Dad, did you get this email?</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>Randy</DIV>

This is just a portion as I could not figure out how to copy and past.

Any ideas?

They are using an MSN version of IE that comes with their DSL. Similar to what AOL does to IE, it is their own version with their own look/features.

Well they are not going to MSN.com (alias hotmail). MSN premium comes with a CD that installs MSN's co-branded version of IE with MSN add on features. So if you call webmail using IE, then I guess yes.

I'm not familiar with MSN webmail, but I'd guess they're using the Print option in IE's menus instead of a Print button somewhere in the window.

If got the same thing at home, you don't have a print icon until you open the email.

IE Toolbar: Home,Favorites,Search,Mail, Address Book, Calendar, Messenger, Safety, Photos, Radio, Shopping, Customize.

Email toolbar: Delete, Junk, Reply, Reply All, Forware, Move to another folder, Print, Previous, Next, ....

When I click print, or right-click and then print from a menu it works for me....weird. maybe it is a printer driver issue, but he has a newer HP printer.

Maybe he accidentally checked an option in the print dialog to print source rather than rendered html.

That's sort of by definition, innit?

In any case, I agree with Peter. There's either an in session print button, or there's something funny clicked in the print properties. I know on Apple's .Mac webmail, you have to use the print button in the opened email (in another window) in order to print properly.

I'll have to look at it more tomorrow. When you click Print, the normal default windows printer box comes up giving you options like current page, selection, etc. Everything looks normal to me....thanks for the help
