You forgot the option of never reading it.

USPS came through for me. Amazon went through the trouble of making a special box just for the book. Says something about muggles not opening or delivering it before today.

My wife will be fighting over our one copy tonight, I'm sure. Maybe I should hide it now, or suggest I read it to her and lock myself in the bathroom.

The Wife had pre-ordered her copy some time ago and picked it up this morning....at Wal-Mart.

Then the real fun started.

She thought that we and the kids should really go to the theater and see the latest Harry Potter movie rather than waiting to get it on DVD.

Horrible experience.

Glad to be back in front of the ol' Mits 65 and lowly ol' M50s and M3s in a sucky listening room.

...literally beat the poop outta that Cinema.

Yeah Jack, that is a thoughtful policy of the library. I heard(although I certainly can't confirm it)that the reason is that the over 60s usually can't remember the point in the book where they left off, so they have to start all over again at the beginning and rarely are able to return it in time. Go Browns!

Well, I'm not quite that bad. However, often a character's name will come up and I find it necessary to skim over what I've already read to jog my memory as to who the heck the character is.

My wife took our middle boy, 10, and his cousin, 12, to the local library last night, at 11PM. The library was giving away 3 copies and checking out 20, all raffle style [no cost]. My boy got one of the free copies and the cousin got the first checked copy. Both were so excited they practically jumped out of their skin. Then the librarian read the first chapter, but was sure not to start 'til 12:01!

Free is good.

That's pretty cool. Maybe if there's a series this big when my son gets older, we'll do that.

Yeah, as long as it's not the main character, you're all right.

I read the first 50 or so pages this morning as my kids make a complete mess of the living room. It was worth it.
