No, not a nose torture device. Those are the weirdly thin but terrific sounding Mapleshade Double Golden Helix speaker wires. Try them, I think you'll like them better than lamp cord.

Somehow I doubt that 18 (or less?) gauge speaker cable can help him with his television problem. I also doubt that it works very well over long runs. However, not being in a position to spend incredible amounts of money on rather dubious improvements, I can't really say. I know I'd rather spend the same amount of money on something to watch or listen to.

2x6 is being rather modest in describing the benefits of this wonderful product. A look at the site reveals more of the miraculous nature of this wire. Especially note that since it adds about a half octave of bass, those who have been considering Hsu or SVS subs might be well-advised to consider this instead. The description of this and many of the other items on the site strikes me as perhaps something that should be held up as a model of truth in advertising.

Thanks for the feedback, people. I had originally figured that those were just 75ohm cables - glad to know that is still the case.
2x6, I don't think Dad will appreciate those expensive wires (he spends alot of time just watching Fox news during his visits).
And the TV is not under warranty, but it doesn't matter - I just ran the DVD to it via the s-video hook-up, and the vcr/cable box via plain old coax cable. Moved the Dreamcast to another bedroom w/ a TV.
