If anybody has one or both of these components. I have a serious problem that I've previously posted about and thought I fixed but didn't. It is a bit complicated but bear with me.

I have my denon 2910 dvd player currently connected to my yamaha v2600 via HDMI. In my denon set up menu, I have the audio output set on LPCM, which yields the best results but doesn't output to the ex channels regardless of the source or DSP. On top of that it doesn't allow me to use any types of decoders in my yammie. I've tried selecting the "normal" setting in my denon, which allows me to use all decoders in the yammie and utilize the ex channels BUT the sound quality is dramatically worse. Whats the problem here?

As for my yammie I previously posted that I believe my two mains inputs were fried. Someone mentioned something about the A-B buttons on the front panel and it seemed to have fixed the problem. But now it seems I can only get 5.1 channel audio from my dvd collection. For example, the center channel doesn't work on anything but regular dvd's. It is completely silent for all games and HD DVD/Blu ray movies unless I select straight 7ch audio which, of course, sounds very unnatural. Am I right in assuming that there is something wrong with the amp of the yammie?

As for the denon, isn't there a way to have the cake and eat it too--selecting LPCM and utilizing decoders? And a last question...Is it possible to still use decoders in my yammie for blu ray/hd dvd movies while sending it uncompressed audio or are those things bypassed?

Can you take a picture of the back of your receiver and post it? I'd love to see where all of your speakers are connected.

I've checked and re-re-rechecked all the inputs in the back.
But I did forget to mention that I purchased the yammie refurbished...Probably a mistake.

What do you mean about the center not working on anything but regular DVDs? SACD? DVD-A? CDs?

It works with the only DVD-audio I have, I haven't tried any cd's in multi channel but the HD DVD and Blu ray movies that have an uncompressed/dolby truehd track don't work for whatever reason.

Obviously I'm missing something here. AFAIK, the 2910 doesn't play Blu-ray or HD-DVD. What do you use to play those?

EDIT: Right, right, it doesn't play games either. So the 2910 is a distraction. Can you post your complete equipment list and connection types? I'd be looking for something in the Yammie setup menus that sets whether the center channel is present or not. I know I can deactivate certain speakers by input on my H/K.

My setup; vp150, m60's,qs8's,m2i, two ep500's, yammie v2600, denon 2910 dvd player, ps3, xbox 360, toshiba hd-a20 HDMI cables from acoustic research + impact acoustics, speaker cables from blue jeans, all other cables from acoustic research.

Keep in mind that I've exhausted everything in the yammie v2600 menu including restarting the whole thing. Nothing worked. My real trouble right now is utilizing 7.1 on the LPCM tracks that my denon is sending my yammie.

I'm guessing that the LPCM is downsampled over the HDMI link (guessing, mind), which removes your extra channels. Could be utterly wrong. What if you hook up the analog outs and try those?

do you mean multi channel analog? I would have to purchase the cables for that.

You don't have 4 2 wire RCA cables lying around? You don't need anything special, just the leftover cheapass pack in ones from your equipment would at least provide a sanity check.
