Hello all!

Is it preferred to terminate the outdoor speaker wire with banana plugs and plugged into the speaker terminals versus clamping down the bare speaker wire? Inside I simply terminate with bare ends clamped into my speaker terminals but I'm not sure this would stand up the elements outdoors.

Additionally, when mounting the Algonquin speakers horizontally, should I orientate the speakers so that the tweeter is on the inside, closest to the center of the listening field - or does it matter?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Bryan

Bryan,

Banana plugs that are protected with heat-shrink tubing should last a lifetime. You may want to put the tubing over the entire connection (jack and plug).

I really don't think tweeter orientation results in an audible difference with outdoor speakers.

Hi Bryan,

There is a golden rule when it comes to audio . . . do not be afraid to experiment and trust your own ears ! Oups . . . it looks like two rules!

If they are substantially farther apart that you are from them then put the tweeters inside. If they are close together then the tweeters on the outside.

Try both ways and let us know your findings.

Good luck with your installation and be careful!
