I saw that article over on the Audioholics site a little earlier this evening....no takers as of yet!

Not much new, not to most of us anyway.

Quote from the Pear Cable site:

"Ultra Low Electrical Reactance
The ANJOU Speaker Cable electrical properties begin with ultra low inductance. At just 0.025 mH/ft, the high current signals flowing through these cables will lose a minimal amount of energy. What is perhaps more unique, is the ability to achieve impressively low capacitance at the same time. The capacitance of the ANJOU Speaker Cable measures just 114 pF/ft, thus minimizing dielectric absorption. This is one of the lowest, if not the lowest capacitance speaker cables that is able to achieve such low inductance. While some cables can achieve lower inductance, these cables typically suffer from capacitance 50% to 10 times higher. Cables that achieve lower capacitance cannot match the low inductance of the ANJOU Speaker Cable. The ultra low reactance allows for extremely accurate energy transfer."

I purchased Belden 12 gauge speaker cable from Home Depot at a little less than $1 per foot. I looked this cable up on the Belden site and it has an inductance of 0.15 uH/ft and a capacitance of 22.3 pF/ft. This makes my cable, which cost 450 times less, more than 5 times less capacitive and 1,667 times less inductive!

The statements they are making with regard to low inductance and capacitance are absolutely false.

Yeah Mo, but is the wire from Home Depot as "danceable" as the Anjou was reviewed to be, and when playing music on it is there that same urge to "get up and move" because of its "great swing and pace"?

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

How do these cable makers sleep with themselves at night? Ha ha ha.

Here is the response I received from Pear Cable. Given the fact that the Anjou cable is a whopping six times lower than my cable, I think we should go out and pay 450 times more for it :
_______________________________________________________

Thank you for your concern over providing accurate data.

After reviewing your note, we found that in fact a typo did exist on our website. Instead of a mu, the symbol "m" was inserted with regard to the inductance figures for the ANJOU Speaker Cable properties. In order to avoid any confusion, we have corrected this typo by replacing "m" with micro to accurately reflect the true properties.

The inductance of the ANJOU Speaker Cable is in fact approximately 6 times lower than your Belden cable. As stated on our website, we are not aware of any loudspeaker cable with lower capacitance that can also match the low
inductance of the ANJOU Speaker Cable. Of course a lower inductance cable can be achieved by simply placing two "plates" of metal close together, but the capacitance for this geometry is signifacantly higher. If however this
absolute lowest inductance is all you crave without concern for other cable parameters then I would suggest you fabricate some speaker cables yourself using copper foil tape. This would be an extremely low cost solution. If
on the other hand you wished to purchase a cable along the same lines, I would suggest you check out Goertz cable.

Sincerely,

Adam Blake

Subject: Cable Claims on Your Website

Dear sir/madam,

Your website has made certain claims with respect to Anjou cable impedance which are false. Specifically, your site claims:

""Ultra Low Electrical Reactance
The ANJOU Speaker Cable electrical properties begin with ultra low inductance. At just 0.025 mH/ft, the high current signals flowing through these cables will lose a minimal amount of energy. What is perhaps more unique, is the ability to achieve impressively low capacitance at the same
time. The capacitance of the ANJOU Speaker Cable measures just 114 pF/ft, thus minimizing dielectric absorption. This is one of the lowest, if not the lowest capacitance speaker cables that is able to achieve such low inductance. While some cables can achieve lower inductance, these cables
typically suffer from capacitance 50% to 10 times higher. Cables that achieve lower capacitance cannot match the low inductance of the ANJOU Speaker Cable. The ultra low reactance allows for extremely accurate energy
transfer."

I purchased Belden 12 gauge speaker cable for a little less than $1 per foot. This cable has an inductance of 0.15 uH/ft and a capacitance of 22.3 pF/ft (please see attached pdf). This makes my cable, which cost 450 times less, more than 5 times less capacitive and 1,667 times less inductive!

The claims you are making with regard to low inductance and capacitance are therefore false. I ask that you kindly remove these statements from your website within the next 30 days.

Regards,

A concerned consumer
