I was able to acquire a Onkyo TX-SR705 this week to test some issues with my center. Through testing I grew to like the feature set of the reciever. I'm thinking of a possible purchase of a 805 to replace my H/K 635. Specially I like the HDMI, Sirius adapter, and iPod adapter capability. But I had a few questions if anyone could lend an answer, :).
Simple really. First the 705 keeps the treble and bass setting the same between all sources. Is this true on the 805? And can you change the treble and bass without constantly going into the OSD? Obviously I'd like to set treble and bass per source, a feature I could live without though. Second, I really would like to hook up a Sirius adapter. Is it possible to watch a video source while listening to the audio source from the Sirius source?
And how do you like your Onkyo 805?
Thanks guys!!

I have the 805 and I LOVE IT. Especially since today I have an DVD-Audio/SACD player piping through HDMI.
As for your specifc questions: 1) No, you cannot set trebble controls per-source or bass management for that matter. Nice idea, which would not have have hurt them (actually, I think it would be smart for any of these amps to have multiple-config storage capabilities...)
I have no idea about Sirius stuff.
So far, I am very happy with the 805. It is part of a new generation of Onkyo receivers that will go far. They have a new push-pull dual amp that, for THX-certification sake are 4ohm compatible (I have driven my M80 with this amp at full power for 50 minutes--the full Del Leppard Best Of album--and it was not even warm. So, whatever used to be a huge issue with M80 and all the 6ohm certified Onkyo receivers is gone with the... (wow, is the first...) 4ohm certified Onkyo receiver is not an issue. Apparently, I might be the only one on this planet, hut I am stuck with what is happening in my appartment.
In conclusion, you seem to have only 8hms speakers, which make the 805 a very good choice.

good one. Had never heard it. Talk about a band that peaked early. They'll never top Pyromania. Although Rick Allen doesn't suck any more with one arm than he did with two!

I wore out two cassettes of Pyromania. It was a long slippery slope downwards after that though. Kind of like Bon Jovi after the hair cut.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

I had to re-do a bit of research from a friend about to buy a 805 and looking also at M80. This is one of the three articles that had reassured me (see Part V) with me M80. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_14_3/onkyo-tx-sr805-receiver-9-2006-part-1.html

Pyromania was definately their best effort, although Hysteria actually sold more. My wife just shakes her head when I start playing the old hair band stuff. She despises Bon Jovi.

Maybe she'll like it now that you can play it on M60s :-).
