I am still considering axioms, probably m50. But, I have become aware of a situation which troubles me. Some audiophile speakers don't seem to be compatible with my receiver, which is a Yamaha htr-5280. Are axioms compatible with this receiver? Should I be looking for new electronics along with speakers?

What do you mean by "not compatible"?

Honestly though, this may be a better question for the gang over at avs (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/) ...pretty much everyone here at the Axiom boards seems to be of the mind that all receivers and amps sound exactly the same. It's been an ongoing debate.

My guess is that your receiver can't drive a 4 ohm load, and that is what you mean by compatible. If that is the case, you are fine with any of the front speakers Axiom makes except for the M80's. Some of the non front ones are 6 ohm, but I would guess that you are fine there.
