Well, I finally decided and ordered the M80s today. The fact I had to use 2 sets of speakers to get a slightly better sound than the M80s along with the idea one of my beloved M22s could be knocked down by an errant child(not necessarily my own), just bothered me too much. The M22s head upstairs tomorrow. I do wish I could afford to keep the M60s as well, their easy listening sounds have a place in my heart, but....well, you know.....

If anyone out there wants to hear the M82s this weekend before the M60s head back next week let me know. I am actually home this weekend!

Wait a minute I can't send the M22 up yet I still have to try them as dual centers! I guess I will be playing this weekend after all, and not just with my kids!

Ah dude...that's tempting. If I had the time I'd drive out to subject myself to your Axiom audition, some beverages and verbal abuse. I read the posts about the M82. Do you have any words of advice that might tip the scale for a guy debating the M60, M80 and M82?

If you like to hear your vocals more/equal, to the music, you will want the M80 or M82.

I had written about the M82 delivering the best of both worlds, when a cd sounds poor, just disconnect the M22s and the forward presence is gone and some of the mids and highs are now blended with the lows, smoother sounding, less harsh. But I am just too used to the M22 detail.

Even though I really enjoyed the M60 sound, I still felt like I was missing some thing with them on their own. The M22s brought back what I thought I was missing and a plus was after the session with Mojo I knew the M82 sounded better than the M80. But in the end, as I stated, the thought of 4 speakers to better the sound of the M80 and a possiblity of a crash wayed too much on my mind. I also have to confess that the wall of sound in my smallish room was a tad intimidating even to me.

Pickup,

M82s all the way. Like Jason said, you can have the best of both worlds. All your 'Peg friends will be envious.

Pardon the newbie question here, but did it affect the sound any having the 22's upside down on top of the 60's or right side up? I didnt see that mentioned anywhere. Thanks...

I personally don't remember and I don't have any notes to that effect. Maybe Jason remembers.

I really couldn't tell any difference with the M22s flipped or not. I ran one side flipped and the other normal as in the picture. I seem to remember a slight difference in mids between the 2 sides but it was only different, not worse nor better. I did run them both flipped and still came to the same conclusion. I think if a person were to go this route it would be a personal preferrence thing, as room dynamics would play part.
