No, just a long time subscriber. I like the articles and the interviews. Seriously.

Went to see "Classic Albums Live" do Pink Floyd's - The Wall on Friday night.

These guys don't recreate the light shows or jump around or anything, they just concentrate on the music and MAN do they do a good job. Note for note, it would be hard to tell from the real thing.

Best part of the night was they had about 20 local kids come out to sing the children's parts in Another Brink in the Wall (part two). You could tell they were psyched. I imagine they will remember it forever.

I have been lucky enough to get into Winnipeg twice in the past week to see a couple of great shows....two Saturdays ago was Elliot Brood with the Acorn and the Sunparlour Players. Elliot Brood was again quite enjoyable - this was my 4th time seeing them, despite the lead singer's illness and resulting vocal complications. This past Friday i went to see Bright Eyes, which happens to be my 2nd time seeing him live and it was a great show. The venue was small so my girlfriend and i were able to watch from about 8 rows back (standing room only on the floor) but could easily see everything. The sound was phenomenal and the set list was wonderful, taking at least a couple of songs from each of the past 4 albums. I think he played for about an hour and a half so we got our money's worth too.

Looks like one more trip into the 'peg is warranted later this week, Cuff the Duke is playing the WECC. I'd actually characterize their music as something akin to Connor Oberst, maybe a bit more "poppy" but with ???"better"??? vocals. Not quite the depth of songwriting either, but pretty impressive nonetheless.

Tonight I attended a 'casual concert' and saw cellist Elinor Frey play. It was really interesting - a small venue, an amazing pianist accompanying her, and all pieces I had never heard before. Two favourites were Bunraku cello Solo by Toshiro Mayuzumi and Siete Canciones Populares duet for cello and piano by Españolas Manuel de Falla. Both took amazing skill to perform and she was technically very gifted. Glad I went!

You can never go wrong with Manuel de Falla.
My wife is currently playing some of his music in our local community orchestra.

It was my first exposure to him (that I know of) and I really enjoyed it. I'm waiting for JohnK to tell me what release will sound as good as live at home!

Wow! That might've been something! I am hoping Pink Floyd would come together atleast once for a full-blown concert, for me to do whatever it takes to be there!

BTW, the band America is playing in a city near mine this December and I was wondering if anyone has been to their concert recently and if it was worth it. Normally I would attend every possible concert even if I like the band or not, but this time around I am thinking I might have to leave one out. Since Scorpions is playing the weekend right after them, I am wondering if they would really be worth it. I could stretch and attend them both but just thought I'll ask.... \:\)

Cheers!
