This equipment will be going into a theater room which will mainly be used for watching movies. I'll also use it for video games (XBox 360 and PC), and rarely for music/music videos.

Room size - 13x19x10
Receiver - Denon 3808CI (140w x 7)
Front - M60
Center - VP150
Surrounds/rear - QS8
Sub - EP500

I think the surrounds are probably a bit overkill, the QS4 would probably be enough, but for the price difference...might as well get the QS8s.

My main concern is the sub. Spec-wise there doesn't seem to be too much difference between the EP500 and EP600. Price-wise there is a big jump, which I assume is at least partially due to the larger cabinet and shipping costs. I want wall shaking LFE, I want to be concerned that mounting bracket for my 63" plasma isn't going to hold the tv to the wall. Will the EP500 do the job? or do I need to spend the money for the EP600? or should I go all out and get 2xEP500?

As this is my first attempt at a high quality system, I would appreciate your feedback on my audio choices.

Welcome Jason,

I would not call the Qs8's overkill, they are awesome and will do fine in that room. Many people use them in smaller rooms than yours.

The EP500 will rock your world, maybe lift your room off of its foundation. \:\) I owned an EP500 for about a year in a much larger room than yours, and it was awesome. I now own the EP600 and am equally enjoying that monster.

The footprint of the EP600 is about the same if you get the vertical model, however, my horizontal 600 takes up lots of room since it is laying down.

It really is up to you, however, I would not be concerned about lack of performance with the 500, it is unbelievable, and for your roomsize it will be awesome.

The 500 will be more than enough for your room size, 2 will just help even out the LFE throughout the room.

The QS8s will allow you to play them louder so not overkill.

You have picked out a great system, buy with confidence and enjoy!\:\)

Jason, I have a similar size room, although it is slightly smaller. My room is about 13x19x8. MY room does open up to a kitchen and a hallway though.

I have m80's vp150, qs8's and ep500. I have the 3808 as well.

I am very pleased with my system and I think you will be as well.

I nearly got the m60's but opted for the m80's instead.

Hi Jason, I also have an EP500 and it is indeed awesome my room size is 14x26x8. QS8s are a great speaker.

130wpc, oops, still thinking about the 4308 that I recently talked myself out of getting.

Thanks for the feedback!

I really couldn't see why someone would buy the 4308 over the 3808, 10wpc doesn't do squat sound wise. As far as I could tell the only major difference is wifi and HD radio and that 10wpc, not enough to warrant all the extra money for it.

Yup, that pretty much sums up my reasons for going with the 3808.
