This thread is a bit of a continuation of one I started a couple days ago in the Home Theatre section, but thought that this follow up question was more appropriate for the Stereo section on this forum.

I purchased a pair of M2s a couple weeks ago, and was thinking of ordering an EP125 sub to go with it. I will be playing music only through this system.

After soliciting the opinions of others on this board, I've pretty much decided to go ahead and order the EP125. However, at the last minute I had another idea.......instead of the M2s and EP125 together, would I be better off with a pair of M50s, which would certainly provide good base response without a sub?

The M2s and EP125 together would be about the same price as a pair of M50s, so I'm wondering which might be the better setup.

I originally ordered the M2s for the purpose of actually sitting in a bookcase in a formal living room where they would be rather inconspicuous, rather than having floor standing speakers that take up floor space and might not suit the room. However, when I consider that the sub is going to have to be placed on the floor somewhere in the room anyways, I'm thinking that I just might be better off with the M50s.

Can anyone offer any opinions as to which option they would prefer?

Thanks very much in advance.

Kaz

PS. The types of music listened to most often on this system would be classical and jazz.

My vote is for the M50s. I think they would be a better choice over the EP 125 and M2s stuck in a bookshelf, which is a bad idea.

I'm with Wid, although I've never heard the M2s and the EP125. I'm quite happy with my M50s.

Although the M80s are better. ;\)

You don't tell us your budget and roomsize? You may also consider the M3's, they are killer in the bass category, just ask Ken. \:\)

I would figure his budget to be around the price of the M50s. He stated his room size in a different thread.

That's looking fairly bleak. Good time to have a home theater system. \:\)

Looks the same here. It is 5 deg out right now with -10 wind chills. Supposed to be -4 tomorrow and -20-30 wind chills, can't wait.
