Just curious if anyone has purchased one of these models from many electronics stores to convert their vinyl to cd's or mp3's?

I've read some pretty good reviews, and between my dad and I we have thousands of 33's and 45's in vinyl that I would love to preserve to cd's. Best Buy has one model for under $200 bucks. Through the software it seems to also help take any static or pops out if present from the old records.

Most of the stuff we have is still in very good condition with little play time as my grandma converted much of it to reel to reel so many of the records have only been played once.

Anyway, just curious if anyone has used one of these turntables.

Ha, you're in gadget buying mode like me. You must be clicking CES news too...

I considered this before, but I've seen ones for less than that, around $100. I don't think the quality would be great though.

If you already have a turntable, wouldn't it be better to get a sound card/USB dongle that can input an analog signal then record it that way? Would be much cheaper. I know that all my Macs have a microphone input which can be used for line input. Use a program like Audacity and voila. I suppose the big problem is getting some box to use as a pre-amp for the TT though.

I had a nice Sony turntable at one time, but sold the darn thing. My dad said he would buy it if I ripped all the music from the vinyl.
