Pan's

On another note I picked up the Director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven on Blu-Ray that is also DTS-HD. The director's cut of this film is so much better than the theatrical release; it's like watching a completely different movie.

I forgot to mention that part of the reason I enjoyed "Kingdom Of Heaven" so much (It's about the Crusades in case you didn't know)was the fact that the conflict and differences between Muslims and Christians still exist today. I find it ironic that many centuries later that the same issues exist and that society on both sides hasn't really advanced much.

Really? I didn't find this movie to be specially accurate in its history. Also the conflict between Muslims and Christians now and as it was then has evolved a little bit... But maybe I'm just nitpicking here.

I would guess you would have to define what you mean by "evolved"

As far as historical accuracy You have to consider that much of what is written about any historical event is colored by the perspective of the writer. By the way I have no idea what's accurate or not accurate in the movie, I just enjoyed the fact that it was not all about trying to obliterate the other side and illustrated that the crusades were not all about fighting for christianity so to speak and that some of the Crusaders were there for their own gain.

Yes some, as hard as it is to believe there were a few that did do it for other reasons than personal gain.

Well I know that this is said a lot by many people about historical accounts nowadays, but how is that different from any writing? After all pretty much everything written down is from a specific point of view, it's hard to be totally impartial, such is human nature. To me that's not a problem as long as the author is honest about his/her perspective.
That's why when it comes to any historical subject we need to read documents and reports from many different people to get a somewhat accurate picture of the facts.
Anyway all I'm trying to say is that yes I'm aware that one has to be careful when dealing with historical documents and that's why I said what I said about that movie, while not the worst when it comes to accuracy, it's very far from being accurate either.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread any further, so I apologize if I've annoyed anybody here.

No worries, you're just stating things as you see them. That's OK by any point of view. \:\)
