I am interested in getting the VP150 for my system. Right now I am using a Kenwood VR6070 receiver to drive everything. On the back of the receiver speaker terminals it says it accepts 8-16ohms. The specs on this site for the VP150 have it rated at 6ohms (but compatible with 8ohms). Will this work with my receiver? I would think it would be otherwise they wouldn't listed as being compatible.

It won't.

Just be sure to calibrate the system as the VP150 will be easier to drive than the 8-16 ohms and will be playing louder at the same volume settings.

Dbass, you will be fine. Most AVRs will drive any combination of 4, 6, or 8 ohm speakers at the same time...

what do you have for the rest of your system. you want your center to match your left/right speakers so they are timber/voice matched...

Yes, the 6-ohm VP150 will work fine with any AV receiver without causing stress, including your Kenwood. Keep in mind that when a speaker's impedance is measured, it may vary with frequency quite a lot from its minimum 6-ohm rating.

The VP150 is "nominally" rated at 6 ohms (it's kind of an average value), which means that the VP150 will never dip below 6 ohms and much of the time its impedance will be higher than that.

My current speakers consist of some cheap Onkyo SKSHT-500's I got at a Black Friday sale 6 years ago. The were OK for watching movies in surround but for music they were terrible. I'm aware of the timbre matching. I'll be upgrading the rest of the system over the next two months. I plan on getting the M22's next then the Qs4's. I can live with the mismatch for the time being. It'll be an improvment regardless since the current center is weak.

Here's what I have for my whole system:
~Kenwood VR-6070 A/V Receiver
~Carver TFM-35 Amp
~SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer connected to the TFM-35
~2-Aura Bass Shakers mounted in the sofa.
~Onkyo SKSHT-500 Speakers. Being replaced by the Axioms.
~Infinity Reference Five Speakers. For music listening. These will be going into another room once I have all of the Axioms.
~Toshiba 3750 DVD Player, Soon to be replaced by an Oppo DV-983H when they come out. Hopefully this February!
~JVC VCR. Hardly ever used.
~Tripplite IBAR12 12 strip isobar surge suppressor
~All Blue Jeans Cables
~Mits WS-48315 rear projection TV.

BTW, I placed the order this morning. Can't wait until it arrives!
