You can simply split the preout signal and send the signal to the sub via interconnect.

Zoë and Rick, your ideas seem pretty interesting. I'm thinking now to add a sub to my system. I am using 2 pairs of speakers so, I'd rather prefer to connect the sub to the preout via interconnect. That does mean that I'd have to use an RCA cable splitter? Is it better to connect the sub to the CD player out or to the pream out? And one more question: is it the 100W sub powerful enough to match 2x175W Infinity pair of speakers + another 2x90w Energy pair of speakers? Thanks!

Adrian

for $100 bucks I don't think you can go wrong but be carefull these are the ones that don't have removable grills ! I have seen them before. I had the chance to get these or the ax3's. I went with the ax3's because I was amazed at the sound quality and I could see the drivers .. lol .. if you look around, some of axioms older stuff is amazing!! but in regards to the Ax series .. Ax1 book shelfs, and center and AX3 or Ax5's and Ax500 suds are great .. there was a pair of Ax3 selling for 200 bucks on kijiji up here in canada, which is a steel in my opinion ..

Thanks Iceman. I am wondering if there is a way to see the drivers under some not removable grills...

You would go with using the preouts and a splitter. If you try to use sub out on the cd player you wouldn't have an active volume control controlling the subs volume. You will also need to calibrate the system with a spl meter and test tones.

Hey iceman. I saw those ax3s. I didn't know what to make of them or where they might fit in terms of the current Axiom line. They were probably a good deal for the right person.

Hello everybody! I think I am one of the newest members of the forum and for 2 days now I am the owner of a 2nd hand pair of Axiom CT-60, the ghost speakers of Axiom. So, to explain why I used that term. I couldn’t find any review or tech specs on internet. I asked you guys for help. Here I was told that should be a good pair of speakers. Iceman knew the model and told me that they had non-removable grills (strange feeling to not see what’s inside isn’t it?). I grabbed the phone and dialed the toll free number of Axiom’s expert line. They never heard of them, but I was told that I should get an email containing all details and specs. Never happened. Despite the awful pictures on the site and the lack of info, but convinced by your advices, I decided to go on site and hear them. I was impressed and got them for $75. I am planning to get the the CTS-100 sub to add a little bit more bass to the speakers, but not very sure, yet. On Axiom’s site anew one is $426. The gentleman was asking $200 at the beginning and finally he agreed for $150. Do you think a 125W 8’ sub will do a good job? Is the price OK? Thanks!

If they are vintage Axiom speakers, Ian would certainly know about it. He would have built them.
It is possible the Axiom folk in the know were not around to return the info. Give it time or try them again. If they are real Axiom speakers, they should tell you.
I can say that i do not recall any CT speakers being the better, award winning vintage Axiom offerings though. I ran into some of the AX series (used) awhile back but even those versions were not the award winning style. It does take some digging.

I never have figured out why people don't use the search tool anymore. \:\) Took me about 5 seconds to find this thread where Alan explains this one time cheaper Axiom line of speakers.
