I have just got a new set of m80 ti v2 speakers and am looking at a good amp to run them at good levels and sound amazing. I currently have a 3 year old Yamaha RXV1300 which is rated @ 100/w channel @8ohms. I have the chance to get a old bryston 4B but it was made in 1979 and is in well used shape. I live in peterborough so I can bring it to bryson and pay for a check up and get a new face plate to bring it up to par. or I can get 2 outlaw audio momo blocks m2200's. both of these would be around the same price. the bryston is only $300 cnd but needs about $200 bucks to get it new again and looking good in my rack. I don't have experience with either of these amps just yamaha and I did have a nad c270 2 channal amp.. please tell me what to do !! lol I am going to use the Rxv1300 as a preamp for now but am looking at getting a outlaw 990 soon .. if this was a newer bryston the outlaw monos would not be an option lol ...

My system ...

Hitachi HD PJ52 projector
Yamaha Rxv1300 Receiver
Denon 3910 Dvd Player
Xbox 360
Playstation 3 (Blu Ray) Player

Axiom M80 Ti v2 Speakers
Earthquake 3611 Tower Speakers
Earthquake 2511 center speaker
Earthquake 1511 bookshelves
Axoim AX500 Sub
Phillips 3390 DVD Recorder

Jakeman has been a long time Bryston fan, and lives close to the plant as well. I'm sure he will be chiming in soon.

Well this says it all. \:\)

I have both bryston and outlaw amps and while the brystons are superior all round the age (29yrs) and the condition of the 9B would give me concern. I know Bryston tech support are excellent and will bring that amp back to snuff...however. If you were talking about a 4BST or 4BSST with their newer circuit designs I would say get the Bryston. But in this case its the much older 4B design so I would lean toward the Outlaws.

Outlaw M2200 monos are a great deal and well built. I have had an Outlaw 770 (7X200w @ 8 ohms) for three years and it has never let me down.

Another Peterborough, Ontario Axiom owner?!! Finally someone in the area I will have something in common with and maybe help each other out! Nice to meet you Iceman. As many of the Axiomite cohorts know, I'm disabled and have been looking for someone in my area to possibly help me out when I'm in a jam. My friends are great but they don't know anything about home theaters \:\)

I think you will be very happy with the Outlaw M2200s, I had mine cranked up for the song Its Good To Be King by Tom Petty earlier this evening and it sounded and felt good.

Probably because they bring the beer when they come over to watch movies.

That's true. I also found out that when your friends are doing drywall for you as best they can(a euphemism for incorrectly :)), not to bring out 48 beer before they finish the job. That way it won't cost you $2000 to tape and mud all their imperfections, in just a 20 x 24 ft. room. We had fun and I guess that's the most important part.

Great song. I've always been a huge Tom Petty fan.

Maxell even had some kind of promotional thing a while back where you could call or email them and get the posters for free! I sent in my request but never did recieve mine. There are a ton of people who did though.

I remember seeing the first ads for "Blown Away Guy" on TV around 1980 and being very impressed with it. It captured many ideas about enjoying equipment and music. I forget who the rock group was in the Canadian ads but I on a trip to London around that time I was taken by how the guy was nearly blown off his chair to the sound of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. That same ad appeared on North American television a year later Check it out below. Maxell brought back this icon last year and its on several of its products again.

My wife thinks I've been trying to recreate that effect in our house. \:D
