Just posted on Panasonic's web sight today. I installed it and it does in fact address the low LFE on PCM audio tracks bug. It also enables playback of some 1.1 profile BR movies (like Residence Evil III and Sunshine). I tested several disks to verify. I can finally ditch the PS3 now... http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/bd/download/bd30/bd30.html

Excellent! I only had 1-2 things with uncompressed PCM, but it's still nice to know I won't have to fiddle with sub setting (and remember to put it back to 0!).

I didn’t know what I was missing till today. It’s much-mo-better!!

I get DD:True HD when playing RE3 now too.. Too bad the movie sucked and I have no desire to watch it again.

I also watched Sunshine again (the known problem areas) and it plays perfectly now.

This really is the best BR player for folks with audio processors that will decode all the formats now. Seeing how Panasonic has admitted to the problem, stepped up and addressed it, I think it will also be safe to assume that the BD 50 will play nicely with all disks, and it will decode all the formats, so that player should fit everyone’s needs quite nicely.

What was the problem with RE3 and TrueHD? I have a problem with "Cars" where it takes 17 seconds for the audio to kick in. Can't wait to see if that's fixed!

Nah! Cars is still 17 seconds to select Dolby TrueHD. Must be the disk as I have 4 other disks with TrueHD and they're all selected within a fraction of a second.

You mean the movie plays and it takes 17 seconds for the audio to kick in?

RE3 would default to standard DD. All Java disks take a little longer. Cars is one of them.

Yes. Video in on for 17 seconds and I can see on my receiver's display that it is waiting for something from the source. And then it kicks in! When it does, it is great as it is a TrueHD EX and has quite good presence in the back channels.

FW updated the BD30 last night. Was tired and didn;t try it out. Have seen nothing but positives from those who have tried it.
