I mentioned this a while ago but someone forwarded me the link to the story on the CBC site and so I just had to post it. Marketplace report Side note for my world friends: Marketplace is The, if not, one of the most well respected consumer interest shows in Canada. They irrefutedly put an end to the 'better picture with Monster cables' claim for standard HDMI cables. I sooo enjoyed watching the Store Manger try to explain his way out of the test results.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! WE knew it, but others don't! "The higher price products are ones that you can be proud of..." I know I'm proud of my Blue Jeans Cables and my MonoPrice cables.

Was never a fan of Monster cable, way overprice. They remind me of Bose, all talk, no action.
Monoprice is great for HT setup, Blue jean, great products for the price.
The best cables I got is Unity Cables from OZ Enterprises, located in Ontario. Great guy to deal with. I find them the best bang for the buck.

I wish that they would start taking on other cable companies--everyone knows Monster's a ripoff, but taking down Kimber would be awesome.

Think of all the poor cable company executives that'd miss out on their weekly giggling sessions when trying to figure out profit margins. We can't deprive them of that. . .

Kimber is purchased by Audiophiles who should know better OR just like it as audio jewelry. Monster is pushed on the unsuspecting/ignorant public who trust the salesman. Not to mention Monster probably has 1,000 sales for every Kimber sale....

Yeah, but you always get people popping up whenever Monster is debunked going, "Yeah, that's crap, but try Kimber! (Pear, Audioquest, whoever)"

FANTASTIC!!! i love these types of reports. I'll take my 50ft HDMI Monoprice cable at $50 over a 6ft $250 cable any day! And yet with all these reports the schmucks of the world will still insist that there's a huge difference.
So why didn't your kids go to college? well see i had to get these monster cables because some pimply 17y.o told me that cheapo $75 cable they sold was crap
