The denon 38089 has a nifty "restore" feature that can help out some of the low quality mp3's. There are 3 dif settings... I don't know exactly what it does but I use it with internet radio often and it seems to help a little.

The restore feature boosts the low and high frequencies according to the manual. It also has varying degrees according to the bit rate but that is set up in the menu and not automatic. I usually have it on the highest setting.

Cool, I had guessed that it boosted the low frequencies b/c I could hear more 'oomph' on the low end. Nice too know it boosts the higher frequencies too. I guess the boost in the low end is what makes it sound 'fuller' and the boost in the high end is what makes it sound more 'crisp'. Anyway- it seems to be fairly helpful at times.

One thing I hate is when I turn on restore for my internet radio, then switch to a streaming flac file... I always forget to turn it off and play my flac files with the restore enabled.

Another thing I wish you could do when streaming music is to click in the middle button on the remote and adjust the sub volume up or down like you can with any other source. I guess they thought you don't need to adjust channel levels when listening to net/usb?!?!?!?

Do these bad boys come with instructions for "breaking them in"? I've never had speakers that required that before, but it's been mentioned. If they don't come with those instructions...how do I do it?

Speakers don't require a breakin period, just turn them on and enjoy. Any breakin is done at the factory and takes a few seconds if that...

Hmm...my friend got some B&W's and they told him he had to leave them on with low volume for 18 hours or something before he could listen to them for real. Odd...

Nothing odd just marketing voodoo, no break in required

No break-in for the speakers, but it is a good idea to listen for a few hours to let your ears adjust before starting tweaking a lot.

I have a friend that sells B&W locally, and he also says there is not much truth to it if any. Many amp companies have the same claims, not sure. I think now that I've had my Odyssey mono's for some time, and do think the sound stage has opened up and sounds better.
