I haven't heard either speaker, so I'll just concentrate on the specs side of things.

Right off the bat, you'll notice that the Dahlquists are nearly twice as expensive as the Axioms. Depending on how much you value your money, you'll need to decide whether they really sound $700 better. (You can buy a lot of other things with the $700 you'd save buying the M60s).

The next thing I notice is that the Dahlquist is a 4-Ohm speaker, so you'd need an amp powerful enough to handle that load. (What amp/receiver do you currently own?) The M60 is an 8-Ohm speaker and will work with pretty much any amp out there.

Another thing that stands out is the frequency response. I believe one thing that makes the Axioms stand out among other speakers is that they are rated up to 22kHz, higher than the human ear can hear. It is my opinion (and I'm sure people will jump in to squash me down if I'm just making stuff up), that a lot of acoustic information having to do with imaging and defining the spatial aspect of the sound is contained in that upper range.

I've about run out of comparisons to make without actually having heard either speaker. If you are willing to spend over $1000 on speakers, and from the price of the Dahlquists it appears that you are, perhaps the Axiom M80ti would be a better speaker to do a comparison with.

I can.......

ok, i guess you're also asking for some insight

get the M60's.

I actually listened to the QX10's with the piano finish at a store. I was impressed, but not that impressed. It has more bass than the M60's, but I find the clarity of the M60's is much better, both in midrange and high end.

The bass extension the QX10's have are easily made up for with a good sub, which is necessary anyway if you're going home theatre.

for music only, the m60's have a lot of bass, anyway, even though the qx10's have more.

They're both really great speakers, albeit with different strengths and weaknesses. Clarity and transparency are better on the Axioms, but vocals are smoother and warmer on the Dahlquists.

I've sent you a personal message as well.
